Has anyone painted their walls black?

I like the look of the matt black feature walls that's all over Instagram atm, but haven't seen one in real life.
I have a black fireplace so I'm not sure it would look ok.

PS we have a lot of imperfections on the wall but no money to get it skimmed and I'm not sanding everything (and most of the imperfections will be covered by pictures anyway)

Friend of mine did. It’s strangely relaxing, like being in a sensory deprivation tank. You see every speck of dust though.

Go for a deep, dark, almost black blue. It's so classy. You'll regret black I think. It's a little soulless. Dark blue has the same visual effect but adds more character and feeling than pure black.
