Has anyone ordered online from Ikea recently?

I’ve not ordered from Ikea before but am liking the look of some things so thought I might cheer myself up with a few bits.

The delivery charges seem to range from around £3.00 to £15 and I’m guessing I won’t know what the charge will be until I come to place the order.

Can anyone tell me how much their delivery charge was for what sort of size order? Also how long roughly is delivery in the current circumstances?

Honestly don’t do it. I ordered, paid £35 for delivery, order never came. Had to spend an hour on hold and then manually enter my card details for a refund.

YummyInMyTummy · 06/05/2020 16:53

I ordered £440 of stuff and the delivery charge was £29!! Couldn’t believe it but I’d spent so long on the site and we really need some of the stuff, so I went ahead with the order. Half arrives tomorrow and the rest on Monday. Hope it’s worth it!

daisymay133 · 06/05/2020 16:53

I paid £35 for a range of things which were declined separately

The first part came last week by truck and the second parts coming next week

After reading that they’re opening end of next week I wish I’d just gone the store now!

daisymay133 · 06/05/2020 16:54

Declined should say delivered

daisymay133 · 06/05/2020 16:54

Delivery times were two weeks for first part and 4 weeks for second but they open next week so just go the store

ladygracie · 06/05/2020 16:55

My friend tried to & it kept coming up saying it wasn’t available when she tried to find the delivery price. The last time I ordered something they delivered the wrong thing & I had to take it back myself. Which was very annoying.

ladygracie · 06/05/2020 16:56

Although that was years ago. So please ignore the second part of my reply! Delivery amounts are bizarre though.

Thisismytimetoshine · 06/05/2020 21:31

Their delivery charges are weird. I looked up the delivery cost of an artificial plant to save the bother of driving out, and it was £39! £1 less than the cost of the plant Grin

We just had our order finally arrive today. It’s been a bit of a nightmare and if you aren’t desperate for the items I would leave it. We ordered early April for delivery on the 20th April. Nothing turned up on the day and there was no number to call due to Coronavirus. They just emailed at the end of the day saying we had a partial refund (which was for the one thing we really needed). No apology for the delay and there was a mention in the invoice the 6th May which we assumed was the new delivery date. Thankfully it did turn up today but it was a lot longer than initially planned. The lack of contact number and the useless chatbot would put me off ordering in the near future.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 06/05/2020 21:40

I paid £30 for delivery of a 5x5 Kallax unit and some inserts. It would have cost that in petrol to drive there so I didn't mind.

KillerofMen · 06/05/2020 21:41

Meh, I noticed that Mumsnet are doing a joint promo with IKEA to get the perfect home office. When on their website nothing was available until end of may and I figured I'll be back in the office by then. Ordered from Argos, £4 delivery and arrived in 2 days.

WhatsHappeningCaroleBaskin · 06/05/2020 21:41

Our Ikea opens next week so I'd just wait. DH paid £39 for delivery of a desk.. by the time it came he'd been furloughed!

Thisismytimetoshine · 06/05/2020 21:43

Actually, slewts, I've heard of somebody recently (on here, I think?) that ordered a whole pile of stuff to make the delivery charge worthwhile, only to have the majority of it cancelled leaving her to pay delivery for an item costing about £6...

EnoughAlready2020 · 06/05/2020 21:43

I made an order last week for a couple of sun lounger sand had to pay £29 delivery which I think is extortionate. Very annoyed now you guys are saying Ikea are back open next week!!

EnoughAlready2020 · 06/05/2020 21:43

Oh and delivery is scheduled for 3 weeks time!

tillyteatowel · 06/05/2020 21:44

That’s a bit worrying peachy - we’ve just ordered about £37 worth of stuff and the delivery charge was £9.95. Would never normally consider it but really want these bits.

tillyteatowel · 06/05/2020 21:45

I heard they’re not reopening - just media making up nonsense.

madcatladyforever · 06/05/2020 21:51

I order loads of stuff from them and have done during lockdown. Depends what you order re charges. It will tell you at checkout before you actually pay then you can decide.
The website lets you choose your delivery day and it's usually 4 weeks but my orders have always come 2 weeks earlier than stated.
I love IKEA and have no complaints.
In the old days delivery charges used to be £100.

LeafTea · 06/05/2020 21:57

Each Ikea has a delivery zone and the delivery charge depends on how far away you live. The amount you buy doesn't affect the charge, it's a flat rate. I can walk to IKEA and mine is £29.

They also have a small item delivery charge (for cushion covers and hinges etc) which will be the £3-something.

All two person delivery are suspended at the moment.

LeafTea · 06/05/2020 21:59

I've just realised that I've never actually ordered anything from the website so none of that might be true. I've always done it in store.

onetwothreeadventure · 06/05/2020 22:01

Mine is £10 for courier stuff (smaller stuff, below a certain weight as far as i know) and £29 if there is truck/mix of truck and courier. It has taken between 2 and 4 weeks across a few orders.

FYI they aren't collecting items right now. I ordered furniture and two pieces arrived broken. I just want replacements but because they are 'expensive' they are really dragging it out and want me to keep damaged items until stores reopen. The only way to get in touch is by requesting a call back from customer services.

Stegasaurusmum · 06/05/2020 22:04

How do you know the stores that are open?
Weird one but just separated from DH and we need to buy stuff for a new house.. For him.
Just yet another joy of separating during a global pandemic

daisymay133 · 06/05/2020 22:17

They’re all opening next week it’s been in news tidayb

tillyteatowel · 06/05/2020 23:42

Thought I read that they denied it. Oh well, won’t be going there any time soon anyway.

Not sure it has anything to do with location - this page lists the charges: www.ikea.com/gb/en/customer-service/services/delivery/

Let’s just say I wish I had read these reviews before wasting my time
