Sofa for grey living room

I'm moving house soon and our new living room has light/mid grey carpet - quite thick and soft, almost a velvet-y look to it. The walls are either a very light lilac or a very light grey - I can't quite tell!

I'm buying some new sofas but not sure what to go for. I want something fairly neutral, but would grey sofas be too much grey in an already very grey room? Cream is too stain-prone so that's out of the question. Would brown clash? Does anyone have any ideas?

My walls look grey or purple depending on the time of day. We changed from a squashy beige sofa before Christmas to a navy one and some jewel coloured cushions. Curtains are off white with a light grey trim. I love the extra colour now.
