I am after a new sofa and have seen one I like in sofology, but the reviews of the company are awful.
Where was your sofa from?

Sounds like Next have improved from the comments here

My first sofas were from next in 2010 and it didn’t last well at all.
We had called them out within the first year because the seat cushions had gone flat.

It’s always put me off using them again.

We loved Loaf when we were looking but they are all so deep and low and squishy they were too hard for me to get up from in the pregnant state I was at the time

Another Next sofa here. It's firm enough for support but still very comfy. Deep seats so you can curl up and your feet don't go over. High back for support. Looks smart. It's the best sofa I've ever had.

Sofa.com

Did loads of research, read all the old threads on MN, sat on dozens of sofas and visited their showroom twice, despite a long drive.

Couldn’t be happier, my sofa is lovely. I waited for a 20% offer (they have lots of offers) and got free insurance.

Sofology. And the sofas are great quality, surviving small people etc. We liked them so much we went back to get a sofa bed for a different room. We've always had excellent service from ours. I guess it could be a local store thing - some are good, some aren't.

@donquixotedelamancha what was the name of the company you used?

Ours is a second hand sofa workshop one - immaculate when we bought it but sooopp uncomfortable as it's all down filled. Plumping it up is like a workout, and it only ever looks good for the ten seconds it's been plumped before someone sits on it. It's the bane of my life. My ex still has a sofology sofa that we bought in 2015 and it still looks good, I found it very comfortable and was delighted with the service - shame they seem to have gone downhill since then!

Mines from Next. Had it 9 years and it’s lasted really well. It’s so good someone’s already offered to take it off my hands for a few quid as have ordered a new one from Made.

John Lewis, has it 4 years and it has a10 year guarentee. Plus they do all the fabric protection for free, where as the snuggle sofa in my sons room which is from dfs, we were charged £50 just for the liquid protection.

SCS. We have 2 2 sweaters and they're brilliant.

joolzfromyork · 19/01/2020 09:13

Best place to buy from is DFS

But wait until there is a sale ... Smile

donquixotedelamancha · 19/01/2020 09:21

what was the name of the company you used?

It's chesterfield sofa manufacturing UK. It's near Burnley.

There must be nearly a dozen traditional chesterfield makers in the UK (all with very similar names). The couple of big direct ones are very expensive. Several smaller ones sell through eBay.

Following my earlier posting I have just found this in my inbox.

There are Sofa.com sofas on Brand Alley today at very good prices.

My Sofa is the Izzy. Highly recommended

Furniture Village
Paid £1650 for it around 18 years ago and still have it.
It's one very large 5 seater sofa. Excellent quality and build although I have replaced the scatter cushions that originally came with it

fastliving · 19/01/2020 09:35

Mine was from M&S - waited for one of their 20% days.
They have fairly light use mostly the dog and the cat but have done well, 10 years and counting.

AtillatheHun · 19/01/2020 09:39

Sofa.com and it’s not as good quality as the 20 yr old sofa workshop one we got rid of. It moves / makes squeaks. Just not as well made and the guy that came to treat the fabric for us gave a good old sharp I take of breath over the quality of the velvet. Shame.

carrie74 · 19/01/2020 09:58

Sofa Workshop, still looking fab after 12 years.

I'd really like the sofa and chair recovered, but quotes haven't been that different from just replacing the sofa altogether (which defeats the object of why we got such a good one in the first place - to last 25 years).

Any recommendations for re-covering?

inwood · 19/01/2020 10:08

M & S. they have withstood small children and dog very well, 10 years old now.
