Anyone have an ikea mattress?

I need a new mattress and I found the ikea hovag one to be quite comfortable.

Currently have a silentnight and its so uncomfortable after 5 years.

Anyone got the ikea one or recommend something firm?

We have a memory foam IKEA one. It's pretty good. Definitely firm.

Silent night ones were awful! I went through 3 when pregnant as the springs kept collapsing.

Dss has an ikea one on his bed, it is very comfy. I have only ever slept ome it on. The floor but was great.

It's not a year old though yet so who knows...

Yep I've got the one that Which recommends - mordegal? Very firm and ridiculously cheap. No complaints.

Yep, lying on it now. 5 years still going strong. Would buy again.

My DH blames my pregnancy weight for the silentnight one being done!

(Nothing to do with him being unable to get into bed without doing a running jump Hmm)

I like the fact they have a returns policy within so many days so might just get it and give it a go

We have a 7 year old ikea mattress on our bed, still very comfortable. The mattress in the spare room is an IKEA one bought in 1996 by my parents! And it's still going strong!

The hovag is a Which Best Buy. We're about to buy one. We had an ikea mattress on a spare bed until recently - not sure which one as we bought it years ago, but guests always said it was comfortable!

I have the Hesseng - we got given £500 when we moved to our new house by DH Uncle so we treated ourselves . I think we would have gone for the Hoppang otherwise. I do like the Hesseng for sheer comfort but chose it for the natural fibres still get hot in it, this may be because we moved to a new build though - or I am premenopausal - it has a 25 year guarantee and is very heavy,
We have an ikea bed actually my whole house is white hemnes it has these slats that can make your mattress firmer.

We have a hovag and love it. It's the best mattress we've had.

We've had the Hamarvik for the last three years, it's great. Very firm, which we both like.

I have a Hamarvik kingsize in firm (as opposed to medium firm). It's really comfy and I'm impressed with the guarantee.

My mum advised me to get a spring mattress rather than a foam one but I can't remember why! And to buy firm as it will soften to medium firm over time. Whereas the medium firm will become soft. Maybe it's a mum thing Grin

I think you can test the firmness out instore. The mattresses come rolled and wrapped so you can get them in the car.

Admittedly I haven't done any flying leaps onto mine Grin

If I'd had the budget I'd probably have selected a Hovag but I'm very happy with my Hamarvik 3yrs on.

Another vote for Hovag here - I've had mine a couple of years now and it's as good as ever. Any visitor who warrants me giving up my bed has commented on how comfortable it is.

We have it (firm) and it's great. DS1 has the medium one and the two other kids have different ikea ones (can't remember which, but both different). All are great, they are good value for money and last well.

I've got an older version of the Hovag (Sultan range) and it is still going strong 15+ years on. I have the thickest topper on it, and that has just started to show signs of wear and tear and will need replacing soon. I love my bed, and would definitely get another Ikea mattress!

I had an IKEA mattress on my old single bed, which is now in DDs room for when she is older, it is extremely comfortable and I prefer it to the mattress on our big bed which is supposedly orthopaedic.

We have - way better than the Tempur it replaced

Think we got the very firm Hesseng for our bed because of the natural fibres/DH bad back and a medium firm hyllestad for the spare bed

We've had an ikea single foam mattress on a kids cabin bed and that is so comfortable!

Thanks for all the replies.

We got the hovag one at the weekend. When I say we I mean I drove 50 miles to ikea with the baby, struggled with the baby into a babybjorn (shes getting a bit big) as I got the European sized one it came from the secret ikea room once you've passed the checkout. Managed to lift the matress into the car (the baby pooed in the middle of it all just to help!) and home I went. Once I got home I realised Id bought the wrong bloody one. Medium firm instead of firm. So back to ikea I went like an idiot.

My next question is, how long until the plasticity smell goes away? We're airing it out at the minute and its good enough weather but gosh the smell is strong!

We have a 12 year old Sultan one with a thick topper on it. Still very comfortable and supportive.
