The "feature wall" thread got me thinking. What are we doing to our homes, which seems seriously stylish now, but will soon become super naff?

My nominations:

Open plan living
French Grey
Anything made from wooden pallets

wooden pallet a tuff is ready naff I think, it was fast tracked to naff!

Hassled · 18/08/2015 13:27

All that nautical/seaside bollocks - the shells, the pastel blue wood-panelling, the random anchors on stuff.

CiderwithBuda · 18/08/2015 13:29

Everything. Everything we do will be seen as someone as naff. Best not to care!

Petridish · 18/08/2015 13:31

Shabby chic.

Wet rooms.

Roseandbee · 19/08/2015 20:36

All the lettering & slogan stuff you can get
Purposely distressing furniture

SignoraStronza · 19/08/2015 20:36

Stripey carpet.

BlueBananas · 19/08/2015 20:38

Shabby chic is naff already isn't it?
And yes grey! Grey fucking everywhere!! That'll be over very soon hopefully and some people will have whole houses to decorate!

ovenchips · 19/08/2015 20:40

If grey is soon to be totally ovah what colour carpet should we buy for stairs and bedrooms then?

pomegranatesandfilms · 19/08/2015 20:43

Kitchen diners.
Extensions everywhere.
Bifold doors.

I want small and cosy rooms that don't have sunlight streaming in from skylights and floor to ceiling windows!

I want to look around a house that hasn't had some extension slapped on the back - so bored of that now.

ICanSeeForMiles · 19/08/2015 20:46

Aye, all that shite sticky lettering/ quotes/ bollocks you see on walls.

Sheezus · 19/08/2015 21:01

Those barn roofed extensions.
Yes, I know you're in the countryside but you don't actually live in a barn. It's brand new FFS!

ididntsignupforthis1 · 19/08/2015 21:03

Shutters
Bathroom wall cladding

wowfudge · 19/08/2015 22:05

Open plan living and sodding colonial style shutters. Does it show that I don't like them?

Wotsup · 19/08/2015 22:20

wooden/cloth/straw/stone etc. hearts
Bloody buggery butterflies in all forms

Get thee to a car boot!!!!!

NormHonal · 19/08/2015 22:29

Yes to grey and greige.

Unless you live in a stylish place, say in the Netherlands or Belgium or Scandinavia, grey can risk looking like you've forgotten to paint over the primer.

Re greige, I give you the office and hotel decor of swathes of the United States. It looks like the eighties.

May I also propose: metallic accents and mirror tiles. Which is a shame because I love a metallic accent.

And yes, bifold doors. Which reminds me, must chase the quote for ours. Grin

wowfudge · 19/08/2015 23:12

Fairy lights everywhere. Scented candles. Anything chalk painted.

travertine · 19/08/2015 23:22

Feature walls are still in but you use tiles now not wallpaper. Shabby shit will pass. Owls. And words. Inspirational phrase transfers too. Grey is very in this year, who knows how long for tho. All our kitchens and bathrooms we sell are grey.

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2015 23:31

Messages on walls, as though people from another planet are walking through.

Thing is, you used to be able to buy choice, now everything is the same same shops selling the same stuff, boring!! Need some young designers daring to be different!! ... random old picture frames ... barrel shaped light fittings, metal hearts ...

SurlyCue · 20/08/2015 00:19

It is my dream to move into a brand new build, you know bog standard semi or townhouse with the high gloss kitchen, all white walls, white tiles everywhere. And do nothing to it. Ever. And then when i die in my 90's they'll auction my house that hasnt been touched in 60 odd years. And people will ooh and ahh over the "decor" of the twenty-teens. like i do over the pinks and turquoises of the 59's and 60's

travertine · 20/08/2015 00:20

Ohhelp I am the new wood chip. Unless that was a weird poster in which case I am not Smile

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 20/08/2015 00:23
