Would you put a 6 ft wide super king in a 10 foot wide room?

Just that really. My partner thinks it would be too tight a fit but we are restless sleepers and often go sleep with a toddler and I'm pregnant. Wwyd!?

Depends on how much furniture you have and how long the room is too!

I have a super king and it's huge, I love it! Bought it when I was pregnant and now ten years old! I would never be able to down size on my bed. We use two single duvets too. Looks wise, we just put a nice throw over the top of the single duvets in the morning. When we go on holiday even a king size feels too 'close'. It was amazing for feeding new born, through to toddlers climbing In, even my teens sit happily chatting in our bed at the weekend. But please think whether you can make the bed ok in a 10ft wide room? What else is in the bedroom? Will you need a cot etc? "What would you do?" - absolutely yes! If in doubt try a ikea bed as there reasonably priced.

Also bedding is pricey, though now we use two single duvets it's cheap! I Hated changing the bed when we had a superking duvet , I used to break out in a sweat. Now it's easy. And tonight DH is next to me in bed, snoring and there's a gap between us! no sweaty body butted upto me on these hot nights!

Oh I wish mine would split down to two singles - when DH is driving me mad I'd just unzip and push him to the far corner of the room !! tee hee

No, it will take over the entire room. That's fine if you just want to put a bed in and nothing else. It will make the room look much smaller than it actually is.

Although I can't understand how couples sleep in a normal double bed - you have less space than if you each slept in a single.

Tee hee one plan- I think the mattress is all one so I couldn't quite do that! Shame!

Love outs, when I was a kid we'd all get up Christmas morning to open our sacks in parents bed, so I insisted we got duoerking to be able to do the same. Sadly dcs haven't read the memo about Christmas day only, most morning at least two in with us as we drink our morning culpa.

If you use your room for just sleeping then yes, if you expect to spend lots of awake time in there it might be a bit overbearing

i would always get the biggest and best bed you can afford.

If you can get into and out of it easily, have enough area for clothes storage - go for it. Bedrooms are primarily for sleeping (and other bed related activities, sex, reading, whatever) so I wouldn't care if it took up the whole room. Dh and I often talked about just covering the whole floor with mattresses, for various reasons we couldn't do it, but it would have been lovely!

Yes, do it. Sleeping well is a huge priority and a family bed facilitates that. I've had my superking for years. The only drawback is the cost of the bedding, but thanks to TKMaxx that is no longer much of an issue!

i really want a bigger bed, I'd do it in a heartbeat!

Dh and I once got upgraded in a hotel room to one with a seven foot bed....ooooh it was fabulous! When I have spare pennies I shall get a MUCH bigger bed! ....currently in a five foot.

We have a king size bed...when the DCs climb in in the morning there is still no space for me and DH...how do they do it!? They are only 4 and 2!

Compromise and get a small super king. Warren Evans sell them. Halfway between king and super king.

We have a superking in our room, with approx 15inches either side of the bed. We have tall narrow drawer units as bedside lockers and there's about 2ft from the end of the bed to the wardrobes, which is fine once we DH close the doors. I really didn't want a bed that big, but DH is a giant and really did, so we got it. Now I hate sleeping in smaller beds.

IKEA beds are slightly different sizes - if you buy one you can pretty much only buy their mattresses and bedding.
