Would you put a 6 ft wide super king in a 10 foot wide room?

Just that really. My partner thinks it would be too tight a fit but we are restless sleepers and often go sleep with a toddler and I'm pregnant. Wwyd!?

YouPoo I have seen this for the smaller beds, but we have a standard superking frame from there (the mattress is from Dreams and fits perfectly)

Not any more, YouPoo- IKEA now do standard double, king and superking size beds/mattresses/bedding. They're great.

Yes, you cannot have a bed that is too big. All my DC have double beds too. When they were little it was so that we could get in with them if they were scared or sick without needing to see an osteopath the next day, and now they're older I can't imagine them fitting in a single bed and being comfortable. The one thing you should spend as much as your circumstances will allow for your home is a decent mattress in a decent size.

Hmm the local shop I'm looked at is now suggesting 2 singles secured together but with 2 single mattresses and a mattress protector. I don't like the idea of a ridge down the middle

Nooooo! The ridge down the middle is worse than a smaller bed.

No no no!! I absolutely HATE squeezing round a too big bed in a room. You'll only have 2' either side. That's no room at all. Getting dressed will be a squish.

Musemum the room is long though so you could get dressed at the foot of the bed....

Ok then. If there's a large area of floor space and the door position doesn't require squeezing along the sides of the bed then fair enough. I had imagined a room closer to a "regular rectangle" shape than long and thin.

Do it. You can store stuff elsewhere and get changed in bathroom if really needed

We have something like that sizewise. It suits us because I believe that bedrooms are for rest with nothing to distract us. We have a massive bed, built in wardrobe and slim bedside tables.
