Anyone have a nice light grey in their bedroom? We have a white wallpaper with silver/brushed sterl like tree trunks and wooden furniture but I don't know whether I like the grey sample pots I bought.

Yes grey is lovely but you do have to avoid the raw concrete look.
Crown do a range called petit palais with pretty grieges.

pegster · 18/10/2013 13:06

We used Farrow & Ball 'cornforth white' on 3 walls of our our bedroom, pale & soft grey, really happy with it

WhisperingShadow · 18/10/2013 13:08

I didn't see that range at B&Q. Hmm.

I've just done ours in dulux chic shadow and it's lovely against oak furniture. Quite a light grey, I was a bit worried that it might look like a prison cell but its lovely and restful.

WhisperingShadow · 19/10/2013 07:44

Our furniture is oak. Whay make? The wall paper I bought has warmth in it so I don' t know if it goes.

Whispering can you link to wallpaper so we can see?
Oak furniture is lovely btw

WhisperingShadow · 19/10/2013 15:59

paper

I know it's Next but it was exactly what I was after. We have a new 6ft sleigh bed coming and I love Winter so wanted to hint at that without being too themed. It is being put up at the moment and does look white and silver when the light is off.

Whispering that's absolutely lovely .
Who cares it's from next ? Not me.

I've done a colour match for it with crown and the closest coordinating colour seems to be Crown Period Flat Matt in paper lace.
Although looking at the next website they suggest their own paint in baked clay .
Lovely whatever you decide Smile

In my bedroom I used Crown's Eglise Grey (petit palais range, which is not stocked in all B&Q stores but can be ordered online). It is a true grey (no pink tones), light and restful. I love grey bedrooms!

Nyancat · 19/10/2013 20:31

That wallpaper is beautiful but it does look quite warm. I don't think the chic shadow would go, it's maybe too cool. I'm doing my hall in a dulux pebble shore. I've found it's a bit warmer. My study is in f&b elephants breath, it's a lovely grey/beige. I'd try loads til you get the right one, I have a bit of an obsession with grey tones, half my house is in them! It's taken ages to get the right one for each room.

SilverSixpence · 19/10/2013 23:52

the Eglise grey doesnt seem to be available any more, I have had a good hunt for it. I am also trying to find a nice grey and quite like Crown Cloud Burst.

Selks · 19/10/2013 23:57

I've got Dulux chic shadow in my living room. It's not the lightest of greys but is gorgeous - a true grey but not cold or concretely. It looks fab with the oak floor and white woodwork.
I think it could work in a bedroom as long as it wasn't a dark or gloomy room.

Selks · 19/10/2013 23:59

The one I nearly went for was F&B 'blackened' which is lighter and looks good from what I've seen of it.

MairzyDoats · 20/10/2013 00:09

Those of you with grey rooms, what colour curtains have you gone with? I'm trying to decide between a pale gold or dark grey velvet for my living room. There are large patio doors onto the garden and in the summer i will probably switch to sheer white but in the winter i like to shut out the old and dark. I think the room is going to be dulux polished pebble.

Selks · 20/10/2013 01:23

I've got off white long linen curtains that have a fine multicoloured stripe running through.

I wouldn't go with grey curtains and grey walls personally. Grey works well with all sorts of colours and looks great with white or ivory. Your idea for pale gold could work.

WhisperingShadow · 20/10/2013 12:23

Well after about 8 more samples I don't think grey works with the paper so thinking of a beigy grey . I guess we can always change. Very light grey carpet and long white voiles and some kind of curtain. Just hope it all works.

I have Chic Shadow but looks dark in the room. Going to try gentle fawn which looks brown on colour chart but greish in the bedroom. Strange.

Mairzy I've gone for white curtains and dark grey carpet. Was a bit worried about the dark carpet but looks good

nocheeseplease · 20/10/2013 18:05

We've just decorated our bedroom and the wallsbare grey. The paint was b&q's own called grey hints (or something like that) and it looks lovely and warm. We put black curtains in our room and it looks great and blocks out all the light.

desperateforaholiday · 20/10/2013 18:08

We've just done ours in b and q light rain, its nice

WhisperingShadow · 20/10/2013 18:35

I have both light rain and grey hints. They looked bluey in our room. Are they?

OP posts:
theignored · 20/10/2013 18:46

we have the b&q light rain on three of our bedroom walls. it is most definitely grey though. fourth wall is a deep yellow (saw it in the b&q paint brochure and just copied) we have morrocan type lighting from next and dark grey/slate coloured curtains from dunelm. looks very grown up and it feels warm and cosy.
I did have a slight panic when we started painting with the light rain though.

Lagoonablue · 20/10/2013 19:28

Is there a good match for Cornforth White anywhere? Also is it slightly blue or slightly green?
