I have just read some of the messages posted about the apalling Thomas the Tank Engine 60th Birthday party and they just echo what we felt about the whole shambles. My 3 year old son Tom (who like many children his age is a mad Thomas fan)had been counting down the days until the big day. Like many people we sat in massive traffic jams only to get to the gates to be told that no one could go in or out as there was a lost child. I could hear many negative comments from those stuck inside but thought, 'keep an open mind'. When we did finally make it inside, the look of disappointment on the faces of all the adults said it all. We tried to decide which long line of people to join and then the heavens opened so we decided to cut our loses and head home. We told our son that Thomas had gone home because it was raining. Thankfully he bought that excuse and we promised him a Boco which he has been saving up for. So, one upset 3 year old and 2 very fed up parents headed back home via Toys R Us at Lakeside.
I hadn't got round to getting a refund for the tickets but having looked at all the messages posted I am definitely going to do that today. Thanks for the inspiration. In future I think we will stick to the Tenderden Railway 'Thomas Days'. Actual trains, the fat controller and not organised by Hit Entertainment!

Hi
Just wondered if anyone has had a response about the free dvd. We didn't actually get tickets to the event despite 6 adults searching high and low to the wee small hours. I am now grateful that we didn't!! However about a week before the event we had an email from "the fat controller" saying how much he was looking forward to seeing us there and giving all the directions needed. My husband read this to my 4yr old Thomas Nut who was so excited by it. We thought it must have been the result of one of the many competitions we'd entered. I phoned and emailed Hit to ask how we'd gotten the tickets to be told that it was an error. My little boy was shattered. I made such a fuss that when I received an email to say that we would be receiving a free dvd I assumed that it was by way of an apology! Thankfully I had the sense this time not to let my little one see it. Suprisingly we have still not received the dvd and can't contact Hit! I can't believe that a company as large as this can't get their act together enough to rectify a huge mistake. If it were me I'd stop buying their products but how do you explain to a 4yr old that they can't have the new Thomas stuff because of Mummys principals. Perhaps Hit have realised this though!!

I've sent my third e mail today and address it to the CEo and if I dont get a reply by monday then i'll write. Does anyone remember what Watchdog said about the DVD? I wonder if it's worth letting them know that we haven't recieved them.

mckenzie · 27/10/2005 21:02

well I finally got a reply today from HIT apologising for our not having received the new Thomas DVD and they are now going to send us one, as promised.

So if you were also promised one and it hasn't arrived yet maybe send an e mail to [email protected].
