Puff · 05/06/2005 20:26

Thanks limited.

Let's all tell them what we think.

grrrr

emily05 · 05/06/2005 20:33

I nearly brought tickets for this event but after reading this I am sooooo glad I didn't!! Ds would have been so disappointed. I think that it is rotten when there are children involved because they dont understand. Good on you all for complaining.

Tickles · 05/06/2005 20:39

As mentioned this morning my DH has set up a site that we can use to complain on. Please can you post your stories so we can gather evidence.

thomaspartyrefund.blogspot.com/

Any photo's of the event can be sent to [email protected] (we will pixellate all faces before posting)

Please use it so we can start to put pressure on Hit Entertainment

Thanks
Tickles

Puff · 05/06/2005 20:40

Good Tickles - will check it out.

Gwenick · 05/06/2005 20:43

news story about it

Sorry to hear what a disappointment it was for you all - hope you get some sort of compensation.

Tickles · 05/06/2005 20:45

My ds asked again today why we left without seeing Thomas and singing him Happy Birthday. What do you say? I was conned by a marketing gimick. Poor little lad

Our son has asked us at least ten times today when Thomas' party is going to be (and we are finding it hard to tell that was IT yesterday!).

Hit Entertainment response to complaints on the TTE website: www.hitentertainment.com/thomasandfriends/uk/60th/parents/60thevents.html

Tickles · 06/06/2005 18:15

Good news! I hope Hit can turn around my rather tarnished image of them.

I realised that you couldn't add your stories on the site I set up without being registered. I've changed this to anonymous - so please try again!

Rather than just complaining directly to Hit, tell your story to both Hit at [email protected] and the following site: thomaspartyrefund.blogspot.com/ - That way we gather evidence should Hit not listen.

I will be making Hit aware of the site in the next few days.

Dear Limitedsdotcom,

I feel what you are going through. I am sure that you are aware, but incase you are not, there is a Thomas Day at Quainton Buckinghamshire Railway on July 8/9/10. Their telephone number is 01296 655720. We went to one last year in Leicester and it was great! I have told my ds that we are going to see him again later in the year and the rain won't stop us singing him Happy Birthday. Hope this helps.

Hi Tickles, onlineid and everyone! Thanks so much for your nice comments, it sure is nice to hear that we weren't completely nuts that we were so angry that we sat in that traffic for nothing!

One thing I will never forget from a training course years ago was that if something you purchase or experience is really bad, you'll tell an average of 16 people, if it's good, you might only tell one or two people! The internet has obviously raised that average greatly, and Hit should be aware that their fan base really does not have an average age of 4 - I was just excited as Tickles the night before the event, and the traffic made us think that maybe it was just poor traffic management or perhaps an accident was holding it up, and when we eventually get inside the event, it would be everything we expected. Er...... no.

If anyone wants to reach me, then my website is my nickname on here, and the email is easily found on there. Please let me know if any more addresses or contact details are needed.

We had planned to make a really big deal about Thomas on our online shop this year, and really support the brand.... what would you do?

:*)

limitedsdotcom · 07/06/2005 20:38

Meant to say we'll probably go to Quainton in July - it's not far from us - half hour or so - perhaps we should all bake cakes for Thomas to make him feel better and give him a proper Birthday Party!!! :*)

Puff · 09/06/2005 23:13

Just opened an email from HIT Entertainment, offering a full refund (there's a telephone number to ring to claim it within 14 days of receipt of the email).

Plus, they will be sending a free copy of a new Thomas DVD.

I'm v pleased. It was a rotten day, but they have responded quickly and offered a bit more than a refund. Nice to be listened to.

I've just rung them and they sorted out my refund - so give them another try.

Good!

Tickles · 11/06/2005 14:39

Interesting - our friend has only been offered a DVD, no refund. I've posted up the letter she received at our blog site - We'll be at Quainton on the Saturday, BTW

Tickles · 11/06/2005 14:39

Actually, would you mind posting the phone number?

Tickles' dh

limitedsdotcom · 12/06/2005 18:37

Hi everyone! This this is the info - is this the right phone number?

A special email address has been set up for comments from visitors to Saturday?s event which is [email protected]. There is also a special telephone line, freephone 0800 035 0492, where comments can be left along with callers names and addresses. All emails and telephone messages will be replied to.

We apologise for any disappointment caused to the visitors at Saturday?s event.

limitedsdotcom · 12/06/2005 22:41

I have a feeling that the DVD will only be sent to those who have the original ticket stubs and the original Ticketmaster receipts. Those tickets purchased on eBay that did not have the receipts sent with them would not benefit from any kind of refund via Ticketmaster as far as I can tell.

We're going to call Ticketmaster tomorrow to find out the situation with refunds for tickets, as I'd really like to be able to get something back for the people who bought our original tickets. The ones that we ended up using were ones we bought from eBay without the receipts!

Tickles & her dh have written a superb letter to Hit Ent. It would be a great dis-service to respond with the same standard letter to every single visitor who complains to them. The least that the could do is take the time to respond properly to each communication from those that attended the... er, party.

Incidentally, 8 days later my son is still asking about Thomas' party, every time we leave the house he thinks we're going to see Thomas at his birthday party... it's really heartbreaking, I feel I've lied way too much to my little boy about this now, and the longer this drags on, the worse it feels.. at least Quainton could resolve something, and we know that isn't a let-down, been at least three times!

A friend just told me today that HIT have agreed to refund the cost of the tickets and booking fee (she did it through Ticketmaster) and are also sending her the DVD. I felt awful as I was the one who told her about the event.

Tickles · 15/06/2005 13:33

We got our refund email today and the offer of a DVD. To be honest, I would have rather seen the event restaged but that said - would you go? Still, that wraps things up for me. The refund will pay for a day out with Thomas at Quainton.

If you want to claim a refund, call Ticketmaster on 08701 535353 and quote reference HIT040605.
