Really sorry at the dullness of this thread, but if i wanted to get from junction 10 of the m25, to heathrow T3 by 9am, what time do you reckon I should set off? Middle of the week btw

Thanks

Well this here timetable reckons it normally takes a Nat Express coach 50 mins from Gatwick to T4.

So I reckon 2 hours would be quite safe. If it was my mum, she'd insist on leaving 4 hours beforehand, if that helps.

RTKangaMummy · 02/02/2005 22:09

do you mean check in 9am or the time you wantr tot be there

SenoraPostrophe · 02/02/2005 22:09

fascinating topic, btw. It's made me remember all the nice things about living in the UK

RTKangaMummy · 02/02/2005 22:10

I always get to airports hours before check in opens

If there is a hold up on M25 you will be late

SenoraPostrophe · 02/02/2005 22:11

rtkm - if!!

JanH · 02/02/2005 22:12

If it was DH he would leave the day before. If it was me I would probably leave 10 mins before I needed to be there, and miss the plane. Does that help at all?

lou33 · 02/02/2005 22:14

yes heaps jan, thanks so much!

I need to get to heathrow for about 9, flight is 11 something

so if i leave here at 6.30, get to m25 for 7, what is the traffic like at that ungodly hour?

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 02/02/2005 22:15

I would leave before allow at least 2 hours

lou33 · 02/02/2005 22:16

do you know that bit of the m25 kanga?

OP posts:
RTkangamummy · 02/02/2005 22:22

yes am familualr with the traffic jams

lou33 · 02/02/2005 22:24

how bad does it get at 7?

dont want to leave too early as we have to bring all the kids with us

Mo2 · 02/02/2005 22:25

Lou - that bit of the M25 is very bad, particularly between 7am - 9.30.
It usually begins to back up just after J10 and then crawls all the way to Heathrow/ M4. However I think what you suggest sounds sensible (i.e. join M25 at 7 am) . It will likely then be lighter than usual just to spite you, and then you will have to have lots of Costa Coffees at HR

lou33 · 02/02/2005 22:28

thanks mo

i was going to get a train to woking then the heathrow express to the airport, but i dont want to be lugging a jumper and coat to thailand, and it is 5.50 per item per day to leave in left luggage! Only other options are taxi which is £60 or get dh to run me, which also means kids wont get to school til lunchtime. Stumped really, can't afford to stay the night nearby

IF you avoid main roads then little ones will be quiet
