Really sorry at the dullness of this thread, but if i wanted to get from junction 10 of the m25, to heathrow T3 by 9am, what time do you reckon I should set off? Middle of the week btw

Thanks

if you look on the live internet site it will showyou all the warning signs that are live on M25 or any other motorway or A road

lou33 · 02/02/2005 23:43

RTKangaMummy · 02/02/2005 23:50

RTKangaMummy · 02/02/2005 23:57

how stressed will everyone get if you get held up and are running late?

essbee · 02/02/2005 23:57

Message withdrawn

RTKangaMummy · 02/02/2005 23:58

at least with cross country you will be very unlikely to get in big traffic jam?

RTKangaMummy · 03/02/2005 00:00

on a good run to sussex we can do junct 16 to junct 7 [M23] in an hour

but it has taken sometimes up to 3 or 4 hours

RTKangaMummy · 03/02/2005 00:02

If you are near essbee then take her advice

I am just mad about being late for planes because they wont wait for me.

Ameriscot2005 · 03/02/2005 06:33

I always use Mapquest for driving directions and the time it should take.

For example, it says that the journey from Guildford to Heathrow should take 35 minutes - which presumably is with a decent amount of driving at 60 - 70mph. Taking account of the roadworks (40mph top speed) and the variable speed limit, it is probably going to take closer to 1 - 1.5 hours at rush hour.

I live by Junction 13, and it takes me about 30 minutes to Wisley in normal (ie heavyish, but moving) M25 traffic, and about 15 minutes to Heathrow 1,2,3 (either on the backroads, or getting off at J14 (T4) and using the perimeter road (which is where all the parking is anyway)).

lou33 · 03/02/2005 08:43

i was thinking of about an hour and a half for traffic. Essbee lives off junction 6 and i am junct 10. The only one who will be getting stressed if things go wrong will be me!

lou, I just had another look at that B&B, they have a free courtesy minibus running back and forth all day and if you look at the map it couldn't be closer; OTOH it is under the flight path! (I used to work in the "Govt buildings" at top right, met DH there in fact.) If you can get a room (£35/£40) it would save you an awful lot of grief and aggravation - being stuck in a crawling queue watching the time get later and later drives me nuts! - and you would know you would easily get there in time. (And have a nice leisurely child-free breakfast first in the conservatory )

Very handy for the Perry Oaks sludge lagoons too...(and the balancing reservoir, lol)

Ameriscot2005 · 03/02/2005 10:17

I've got a feeling that Perry Oaks has disappeared under Terminal 5

JanH · 03/02/2005 10:21

Do you know I wondered about that, as! So it's poised for when they finally get permission for the third runway and obliterate Harmondsworth and Sipson. (I used to live in Harmondsworth.)

Shame about the sludge lagoons, I remember them well...a delicate fragrance would waft by when the wind was in the south...

Ameriscot2005 · 03/02/2005 10:22

Not sure if it's set to be a runway, as there are all sorts of access roads, bridges, spurs from a new junction on the M25 over there.

lou33 · 03/02/2005 13:55

Right, well dh ahs decided that he couldn't bear to say goodbye to me a night earlier than planned, so I am either getting a cab, or will try and beg the 1 local friend i have to take ds1 and dd2 into her house at 7, so they can go to school with hers. Dd1 could let herself out of the house and walk to school.

Got to get a cab quote.

OP posts:
lou33 · 03/02/2005 17:53

cab is £42

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 03/02/2005 17:56

how much is car park and pertrol?

which will be less stress?????

lou33 · 03/02/2005 18:02

i dont drive so dh is either driving me, which means we have to decide what to do with the kids, or a cab
