Going to Rome for the first time in September with 20yo dd and looking for ideas for must sees.

It’s a Monday to Friday trip and we’ve got a central hotel, will be seeing the obvious touristy things but wondered what else people recommend?

without having been my best advice is to buy a lonely planet guide! So of the info is online but they usually do a "2 or 3 days in the city" sort of suggestion and they split them into chapters by area of the city so it's easy to plan your trip. Rome Travel 2026 - Lonely Planet | Italy, Europe

Pre book the Vatican museums. You'll need your passports for entry to main sites (e.g. Colloseum).

Watch Roman Holiday together. Do that. Enjoy. We did it about 12 years ago with our teens and it was brilliant.

Thanks for the tips! I remember needing passports for some of the Paris sights we did so that’s a good reminder thanks.

Im mostly looking forward to the Italian food 😋😂
