I cant find a place for September for us!

Ive asked this before but im still struggling to find a place.
We want a nice beach, self catering apartments, with a nice town you can walk to. Its a big anniversary but i dont want/need far flung or super fancy.
Any suggestions for a resort or even apartments?

We just want to be able to swim in the sea and have a nice stroll around in the evenings and stop for a drinky.
I cant find something that hits the spot for September weather.

Zante? The villages of Alykes & Alykanas are both lovely with beautiful beaches & sea and seem to offer everything you need.

Agean houses hotel in Kos. We stayed last year, it's a hotel and we had breakfast included but the rooms have a kitchen. It's the friendliest hotel I've stayed in. 10 min walk to the beach. 20 mins walk to kos town. 5 mins to a big supermarket. Just had a refurb, lovely pool.

Soller / Port de Soller in Mallorca.

Forgottenmyphone · 26/06/2025 19:37

Taormina in Sicily has the gorgeous Isola Bella beach. We went to Sicily in October and were still able to swim in the sea.
Assos in Cephalonia has some of the most crystal blue water we’ve seen Europe. It’s quite small but still has several places where you’ll be able to get a drink or a nice meal out. Lixouri also has some lovely beaches and is a bit livelier.
Sisi in Crete and Makarska in Croatia would also be good options.

Greece, Cyprus - pop into a travel agent and ask. Cephalonia as above we;ve stayed in ASSOS - Simply brochures,

Cyprus has good weather and warm water in September.

I love the old fashioned tram and the wooden train through the lemon and orange groves. The scent of them is divine.
There’s also a fantastic tapas restaurant by the tram stop near the harbour. I could quite happily live there.

I’ve booked Santorini this Sept and had similar criteria to you. It worked out about 1k all in with flights and an Airbnb with private pool. I’ve heard it’s expensive when you’re there though.

The other Greek islands had similar properties!

Drangea · 26/06/2025 22:23

Port de pollensa. Gorgeous beach, lovely town to stroll through and choose a restaurant.
I am going to Soller next year, very excited as it looks lovely.

Lavendersong · 26/06/2025 22:24

You can’t go wrong with Mallorca / Majorca

Mikart · 26/06/2025 22:32

Im going to Soller mid October after visiting for the day in May!

This. We've had this holiday every year for a while now and we've never not been able to find anywhere, even though we generally book late, between a few days and a month before travelling. We don't (comparatively) spend a lot of money on it or go anywhere too busy/Brits on the piss. When people say they 'can't find anywhere', I do wonder how many perfectly lovely places they've dismissed?

We have been to Santa Eulalia in Ibiza, Cala DOr, Camp de Mar and Paguera in Mallorca, Menorca, Mehllia Bay in Malta, Marsalforn on Gozo, although the beaches aren't great, there's always good sea swimming and snorkeling and you can go on trips to beaches. Loads of places in the Canaries but the sea won't be quite as warm. Plus there's also likely many Greek or other options but we've not got round to going there yet.

Weather has always been hot and sea pretty much as warm as it gets. Eat out every night and loads of choice of restaurants.

Thank you so much everyone. Fantastic stuff there to check out.
Ive been to mallorca and we do like it, id go back for sure.
We have been to South of france and lake garda in sept and the weather was crap so thats why im a bit wary of September.
@Bjorkdidit , thats my thing, im afraid ill dismiss/miss somethign fabulous!
Thanks all.

Have you thought about using an independent travel agent like Travel Counsellors. They should be able to take a look for you.

ItsHere · 27/06/2025 16:31

Protaras, Cyprus

Our recent September holidays have been Portugal (Alvor), Mallorca (Puerto de Pollensa), Sardinia (near Olbia) and Croatia (near Dubrovnik). I’m not a sea swimmer but have been able to swim in the pool and weather has been lovely - mid to late 20s with the odd day being hotter and the odd day a bit cooler.

TheFairyCaravan · 27/06/2025 17:02

We’re going to Menorca this September. It’s my favourite place. The sea is always warm then. Sometimes there might be a short storm, but other times we’ve been and the weather has been red hot the whole time we’ve been there. We’ve done Mallorca and the Algarve at the same time of year and had the same experience.

We’ve done Kos twice in September, we went last year, and it was baking hot. The sea was very warm there too.

Doteycat · 29/06/2025 14:25

Thanks all
We think maybe we have narrowed it down to Mallorca, No direct flight to Kos for us, which location wise we would like, but I cant be doing with the schlep of it.
Thinking Soller, have done Pollenca and Cala Dor, think Soller might be a nice change.
Will keep Kos for next year when we wont be as knackered after everything and can stay with DD for a UK flight.

Although Zante is also not ruled out!
