Have you been?
What's the nicest beach and town?

Thanks ☺️

I go to Cala d'Or most years. Rather than one beach, there are several coves, all fairly close to each other. There are three areas, Cala Ferrera, Cala Egos and Cala D'or itself. There are bars, restaurants and shops in all areas but Cala d'Or is the liveliest. The whole place has a really nice vibe.

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 21/02/2025 09:48

We went to Cala d’or last year. Lots of really lovely places to eat and the beaches are nice. If going in the school holidays though the beaches do get packed as they’re narrow coves. Very pretty just really, really busy. We said that though we would like to return as it was a lovely place, we wouldn’t go again during peak season.

So I’d recommend Cala D’or if not going in the summer hols, but maybe not if you are. Though it does depend on whether or not extremely busy beaches bothers you.

jasflowers · 21/02/2025 09:52

I think the North of the Island is better, Soller, Pollensa, Puerto Pollensa, even in high summer, can find somewhere quieter.

Depends what you want and when you re going.

I agree with this

Thank you really helpful!
Is it warm there at Easter?

Alcudia pins is basically in the middle of nowhere so if you want stuff to do, avoid that area as you need a taxi for everything

Topseyt123 · 21/02/2025 09:59

We have been to the north of the island a lot. DH's parents used to have an apartment in Alcudia and it's a lovely area. Quite busy, but the beach is miles long so you can always find somewhere, even in peak season.

Puerto Pollensa, Puerto Alcudia, C'an Picafort are all lovely. Plenty going on and public transport is pretty good too.

We are going towards end of March, went a similar time last year... & had great weather... so Yes it "should" be warm and thats been our experience, we used to go end of April, always 25 to 30'C at mid day, chillier at night.

But its an Island, so can always throw up surprises in the spring... But you'd have to be incredibly unlucky to have days of rain... if there is rain, tends to be over night or late afternoon.

On public transport, if you down load the bus app and pay tap in tap out, its very very cheap.

paulyispoorly · 21/02/2025 10:04

Sa coma is lovely but quiet, Cala millor is lovely as is Cala bona

OrangeBlossom28 · 21/02/2025 10:11

DD1 (22) and I went last August and stayed in Playa de Palma which was lovely because of the beach and how close it is to Palma. €2 each way on the bus to Palma and only 20mins.
It depends what you're after and how much you want to do. We found a quiet spot with the hotel (Riu Festival), sunbathed in the day and walked up and down the promenade by the beach each evening.

jasflowers · 21/02/2025 10:14

If you go at Easter, there is a religious festival in Pollensa old town, amazing... if you like that sort of thing of course!

Even early in September the beaches (calas) get busy, especially Cala Gran. You'd have to go really quite early if you want a sunbed at Cala Gran. That said, you can always find somewhere to lay your towel down in the sand or on the rocks.

Are you going to hire a car, OP? And are you going with kids, and what age?

Mitzie9809 · 21/02/2025 11:34

Puerto Pollensa is by far my favourite resort on the island and the only one we have repeat visited. It’s got a lovely long sandy beach, great restaurants and bars and generally quite an upmarket feel. It is quite pricey though, and can be over hour’s drive from the airport if you’re unlucky with the traffic. The only negative is that mosquitos really love La Gola and I do get badly bitten every time we go there. If you want to party until 4am every day, it’s also not the resort for you!

Sa Coma is also very pretty, from there you can get to Cala Millor, S’Illot and Cala Bona if you like to get out and about. The nature reserve is lovely to stroll around.

C’an Picafort has got a nice beach but just to be aware that if you walk far enough to end up on Playa de Muro, it’s a nudist beach. The resort is predominantly German with British tourists very much in the minority here, whether or not that’s a good thing is up to you!

I would never return to Santa Ponsa. There are issues with sewage there, the smell was horrendous and it generally felt quite scruffy and run down.

mitogoshigg · 21/02/2025 11:36

Easter weather is variable, just like anywhere in the Mediterranean. Puerto Pollensa is really nice

MiserableMrsMopp · 21/02/2025 11:40

Soller, Deia, Porto Pollesa are all lovely. Alternatively, a small town slightly further inland and get a car. Sa Pobla is really lovely. Typical market town, with a central square and 10 min drive to Pollesa / Alcudia / Santa Margalida. Sa Pobla also has a train station, so very easy to train into Palma or towns along the route.

Should be warm by Easter but not unbearable.

jasflowers · 21/02/2025 14:43

Good choices there @MiserableMrsMopp i really like Muro too and hill top monasteries, Randa & San Salvador offer amazing 360' views of the Island and have lovely cafe's too!

Terry's Car hire is an English setup, so easy to avoid some of the scam outfits, good prices too.

Notquitegrownup2 · 21/02/2025 14:58

We have often had lovely sun in April but got caught by a hail storm on the beach last time! Be warned that the sea is chilly in April, so make sure you have a heated pool if you want to swim. And take a jumper/coat to visit Valdermosa in the mountains.

Enjoy. Mallorca is a lovely island with so much to see and do.

Ooooh yes. Forgot Muro. It's lovely.

Do You Spain for ultra cheap car hire, BUT take photographs on drop off to avoid getting stung. And make sure you pay on credit card not debit card.

I think you are spot on here. Pollensa and Soller are two of my favourite places.

We've been to Cala d'Or, Alcudia, Playa de Muro and Puerto Pollensa. I much preferred the north of the island. Found Cala d'Or beaches quite dirty and our hotel was not as nice. Puerto Pollensa had everything but Muro beach was nicer.
