Have you been?
What's the nicest beach and town?

Thanks ☺️

I’ve only been to Soller. We stayed beachfront in Port de Soller. We hired electric bikes one day and went up into the mountains; kayaks another and found caves, and hiked another day. It’s a stunning area!

This sounds lovely - would it be worth a day trip from the south to the north of the island for this?

The Soller train kind of is a day trip from the south to the north of the island. Or rather, from the south to the north of the western side, if that make sense. Mallorca is kind of a diamond shape, so the north/east/south/west are all points rather than areas.

If you are asking if it is worth a day trip from somewhere Cala d'Or (the south-east tip) then I would say yes, but it's quite a full day out. It's an hour by car or 90 minutes by bus from Cala d'Or to Palma. The morning trains go between 10 and 12, and they get back to Palma between 5 and 7 in the evening. It's quite doable by bus (the bus station in Palma is right next to the Soller train station) but you will all sleep well on the way back. The train is also not cheap (€38 return, although that also includes a return trip on the tram from Soller to the port). But it is an unforgettable day out.

It was a lovely day out. We caught it from Palma to Soller, but you can do the reverse trip or a return trip. We wandered around the port, had lunch and saw a local market.
We caught a bus back to Palma. From memory, the return train would have made the day much longer or the time it went just didn't suit. The train was the highlight of my trip to Majorca, so yes, I'd recommend it.

We did it, too. The journey through the mountains was just breathtaking. It was my highlight of our trip to Mallorca

The train to Soller starts from Palma. Directly next to the main train station.
