Tenerife: which resort or hotel?

After recommendations for where to stay in Tenerife. Don't want noisy resorts with wild nightlife but don't want to be so isolated that there's nothing around.

Head north. Way better; proper green and cultural Tenerife not that soulless shite down south. Still get beaches and beer

Anywhere specific you can recommend? North is a bit vague!

The north is much more Spanish and traditional- have stayed in Puerto de la Cruz and Garachico. Both lovely. Adeje/Playa de las Americas are package touristy places - they're ok if that's what you want.

Playa de Las Americas is the stuff of nightmares for me. If Costa Adeje is similar then it's not for us.

Los Gigantes.

Costa Adeje is lovely, we've stayed there a few times.

Our favourite hotel is the Iberostar Waves Las Dalias We've stayed here a few times, as a family and as a adult only group trip.

@Curlybrunette we are staying there for New Year, I've booked it as a surprise for my husband's 50th. We haven't been before so it's nice to see it recommended.

Curlybrunette · 14/11/2024 17:26

@Wintersnow39 it really is lovely. The food is lovely, branded drinks (not that I'm bothered by that but I know it's important to some people), the staff are amazing and so friendly.

Have a lovely time. We're going in a few weeks for my parent's golden wedding celebrations. We're there from the 15th - 22nd December but my mum and dad and sister's family will be there until 28th December!

We've stayed at the Atlantic Mirage in Puerto de la Cruz a few times. It's adults only and the views a amazing.

Think the weather in the north can be a bit more changeable. Would like to go there but would probably not go in Winter

Hotel Botanico is north and really lovely. Not AI. Local harbour town walkable and they have a shuttle bus there too. They don’t ban children but it is mainly adults, no resort vibes. They have a pool that is over 18 only as part of the spa and a larger pool too, gorgeous gardens and incredible breakfast.

We are currently staying in puerto de la Cruz at the Bahia principe . It's right on the beach and it's lovely here . It's less commercialized and a lovely Spanish town . Can thoroughly recommend it . We travel to the canaries a lot and this has been my favourite so far . Weather is glorious , it's a chilled out hotel , good food ( we are AI) but there are loads of restaurants around .

Los gigantes.

We selected it as a walking area - took a bus to El Moledo, walked on the hill tops and down to the town, discovering different paths. That works better in the off-season, because some walking paths are closed late spring to early autumn to protect the nesting birds.

I thought los gigantes was my little secret, sigh!

Iberostar joia el mirador (previously grand el mirador) is the most perfect hotel I have ever stayed in. Adults only, incredibly peaceful, beautiful (huge!) pool, wonderful staff, delicious food, amazing views, few mins walk from lovely restaurants - I'd live there if I could! Can't recommend it enough. It's in the quiet part of Costa Adeje - but only a 25 min or so walk if you fancy a party!

Just came back from suite villa maria - near la caleta. Lovely little villas but on a hotel complex so a great mix of both.
