Holiday cancelled. Where to go instead?

😭 Holiday to Sicily next April. My annual birthday solo trip and Jet2 have juggled their flights and cancelled my holiday. Due to get my deposit back soon.

But now I can't get anywhere at a similar price (830) at the same time. Too early for most of Greece or Ibiza and Rhodes has horrendous prices. I don't want Spain (apart from Ibiza or Fuertaventura).

So unless I want to go in May, I'm stumped.

Any ideas?

If you want to be in the sun by the pool in April then europe is quite risky. If looking for all inclusive type holiday in April I'd be tempted by Cape Verde or Canaries if wanting a relatively short flight.

Canaries, then! Find a nice flop by pool hotel.

Having done a small ship cruise around Sicily and visited many wonderful towns, just flopping makes no sense in Sicily! You miss out on so much. In April we had a bit of rough sea and rain too. You might have been flopping in your room. Cyprus would be open. Egypt? Tunisia? If you just do nothing then it won’t matter about mixing with locals. You won’t.

@TizerorFizz which company did you go with for your cruise and where did you visit?

KnickerlessParsons · 31/07/2024 19:05

When I go on my own I just want to flop by a pool in the sun, maybe to a food and/or wine trip and not talk to people as I'm usually peopled out. Half board or all inclusive.I save being cultural/adventurous when I'm with DH.

Well it doesn't really matter where you go then does it?

If you're not going to leave the hotel. You just need a nice hotel.

No chance of getting to Sicily with another airline? No need at all to be 'phobic' about Ryanair or Easyjet, they're no less reliable than other airlines.

Or if you literally just want to 'fly and flop' in the sun, what about Lanzarote, that has vineyards, as well as other places of interest (volcano, watersports, big tat market, marinas etc) or a nice hotel in Fuerteventura, or Gran Canaria, somewhere like Puero Mogan?
