Holiday cancelled. Where to go instead?

😭 Holiday to Sicily next April. My annual birthday solo trip and Jet2 have juggled their flights and cancelled my holiday. Due to get my deposit back soon.

But now I can't get anywhere at a similar price (830) at the same time. Too early for most of Greece or Ibiza and Rhodes has horrendous prices. I don't want Spain (apart from Ibiza or Fuertaventura).

So unless I want to go in May, I'm stumped.

Any ideas?

Ryanair to Palermo and airbnb?

Ourdearoldqueen · 30/07/2024 18:58

Some great deals on LastMinute.com

I also really like the look of Journee - where they put together a curated package for you.

Lovetotravel123 · 30/07/2024 19:20

Montenegro?

Puglia - is cheap when you get there. Fly to Bari or Brindisi.

Montenegro?

I have a bit of trauma from my last Montenegro trip. FiL died halfway through our holiday and they only had one seat left to get back with Jet2. I don't mind going away on my own but both of us were a bit distraught at the time.

Ryanair to Palermo and airbnb?

Sorry should have said I just can't do Ryanair. A bit phobic about them, and EasyJet after being delayed on flights and left stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Jet2, Ba, TUI etc I'm fine with.

Was going to say this, too. Otranto is stunning!

Malta?

Ratherbeaspoonthanafork · 30/07/2024 22:25

Dubrovnik.

Or could you not do Sicily in May?

Twilightstarbright · 31/07/2024 08:09

Madeira? What is it you’re looking for?

Ailbhe123 · 31/07/2024 08:12

Lake Como

MysteryofNils · 31/07/2024 08:15

Malta is a good shout. I did it as a single parent with the kids and we had a lovely time. A lot to see, nice restaurants and what I would term an 'easy' holiday.

Malta is nice.

KnickerlessParsons · 31/07/2024 08:22

I wouldn't do Marrakesh on my own aa a woman.
You can't beat the Côte d'Azur either actually.

QueenOfTheNihilist · 31/07/2024 08:29

Does ‘not Spain’ include the Canaries?

Lanzarote, Playa Blanca, nearby wild beaches, volcanoes, culture (fantastic Cesar Manrique buildings and museums)

Gomera: lesser known, extraordinary scenery)

Meredusoleil · 31/07/2024 08:34

Cyprus is open in April and not too hot, crowded or expensive!

DaveWatts · 31/07/2024 08:38

Southern Portugal will be warm in April if that's what you're after

DoublePeonies · 31/07/2024 08:39

I've just looked on jet2 from my local airport, 7 nights, random week in April, and there are several self catered options with pools for under 900 in Cyprus.

Madeira? What is it you’re looking for?

We went to Madeira In January. Nice enough, but oh my lord;the hills!

When I go on my own I just want to flop by a pool in the sun, maybe to a food and/or wine trip and not talk to people as I'm usually peopled out. Half board or all inclusive.I save being cultural/adventurous when I'm with DH.

I did an adventurous railcard trip last year and I was more knackered by the of it than when I started. I think I was more in love with the idea of being an independent cultural traveller but the reality was.......nah never again.

It's my 60th in April, hence wanting to go then, but I could delay until May I guess. Just so much more money, especially as a solo traveller.

Barcelona. It's a lovely place if you like cities but has a beach too.
