Canaries with heated pools

Jessica60 · 13/02/2024 11:24

I'm looking for next year, winter sun in the Canaries. I need somewhere that has a lovely heated pool and is good hotel for children age 7 and 13, poss AI. Hotels only don't want a villa or to do much self-catering.

I have seen that the jet2 site lists if the pool is heated but when you read the reviews people say that the pools were cold. So not always accurate.

So I'm looking for some ideas, places that you guys have already been to the definitely have a nice warm pool.
Thank you.

I went to Bahia Principe Fantasia in Tenerife in Nov 2022 and absolutely loved it. DD was 18 months then and it was perfect. Definitely had heated pools - I'm a wuss and I was able to get in :)

We are at the hard rock hotel at the moment in Tenerife , it's absolutely fantastic . Heated pool , definitely recommend! We are here with our 7 year old daughter x

rookiemere · 13/02/2024 12:09

Seaside Los Jameos has a year round heated pool and is a lovely hotel with great food.

RabbitsRock · 13/02/2024 12:10

I didn’t read the holidays bit so thought the post was about indulged birds with their own heated pool 🤣

candycane222 · 13/02/2024 12:10

I'm sorry but after the "people humanising their dogs" thread I saw your thread title and went straight to "Now that is taking pet luxury a bit far" 😁

As you were....

candycane222 · 13/02/2024 12:11

@RabbitsRock snap! 🤣🤣

Jessica60 · 13/02/2024 13:20

Omg. Yes the title does sound like that!

Sorry but even if they say heated, in my experience they are chilly, that said I moan if it's under 30 degrees. Even the hot tubs were lukewarm at best. The Bahia chain, I'm looking at you! 27 degrees is cold for a hot tub!

We walked past the Hard Rock Hotel in Tenerife ( we were in an air bnb) and wondered if it was a heated pool. Ours was freezing. The sea was warmer so how the sun managed to heat the Atlantic Ocean but not a little apartment complex pool, I don't know!

Moier · 13/02/2024 17:45

When they say heated pools.. unless it says electronically heated.. they mean either with the Sun or Solar.. we holiday in Lanzarote and Fueterventura a lot.. in villas so we make sure electronically heated.
H10 hotels definitely have heated pools . The Rubicorn Palace in Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is gorgeous.. they have a little train that takes you into the centre and to the beach.. also within walking distance to the fabulous water park.

Love the thread title.Grin
My poor budgies just have a cold bathSad

Watching with interest because DH and I go to the Canaries most years in January and I have yet to find a pool I consider warm. It's not so bad for adults who might just want to do a few lengths but for children it's often the main focus of a holiday so no good if the pool is cold. We took DC in April once to Lanzarote and they were gutted the pool was cold.
I second what Moier says, villas with electronically heated pools are the warmest. Lots of hotels claim that by-laws dictate a maximum temp of 25C which isn't quite warm enough for me.
@honeybee1986 I've looked at that before, I actually thought it was adults only. how are you finding it location wise?

They'd be the first to keel over if it's over-chlorinated.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 13/02/2024 19:21

Can't personally verify but we've booked the Iberostar Bouganville Playa for May, that has a heated pool and doesn't seem to have comments saying it's cold.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 13/02/2024 19:21

Sorry should have said that's Tenerife

Jessica60 · 13/02/2024 22:11

My children would spend most of the time on the pool and a really cold pool would ruin the main part of their holiday enjoyment. So I really need to get this right. Thank you

I can't get the image out of my head from what I first thought this was about 😂

Seaside Los Jameos - one of the pools is heated but it's an annoying shape and was so busy you couldn't swim at all
Princess Yaiza - two of the pools were heated I think (one in the main hotel, one in the block through the underpass) and didn't seem as busy as Seaside Los Jameos
GF Victoria - the splash park bit as well as two pools were heated I think, although one of those was no floats, balls etc so it depends what your kids want to do.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who clicked on this thread to see what was going on in the world of budgerigar fancying......🕊

We’re in Tenerife at the moment, weather is beautiful! But I think that there is an issue everywhere with pools, last year we went to Siam Park and it was freezing across the whole park! We wondered if it was a Spanish issue with limiting the heating of pools related to the energy crisis? Last year we stayed at Hotel Baobab and had a jacuzzi which was lovely but the pools were cool.

Currently we are at Puerto de la Cruz and dh tells me the pool here is warm (Casablanca apartments), but it was 28 degrees today, much warmer than last February, so that may have made a difference?

I get this. When we went to Lanzarote in April when DC were 13 / 11 the holiday was ruined because the pool was so cold. They came out blue with cold even on a warm sunny day. They were used to Greece or Spain in July and it was the only time we ever took them on a winter holiday.

I recommend you email the hotel and ask for average pool temperatures. Also bear in mind the wind. Much as I like Lanzarote it's windy. Always windy. I was at the Iberostar Lanzarote Park last month and it was glorious sunshine all week but still cool in the shade because of the wind. The pool was cold though this was in the adults only area. The sea was even colder.

Incidently DS is in Tenerife now with his partner and they went to Siam parc. Apparently it was empty and no queues. He said his childhood memory of Siam parc consisted of the queues more than the slides.

Brycare · 14/02/2024 10:28

I haven't been personally - but a friend and his family were in the Cordial Mogan Playa in January and said the pools were heated. They were impressed with the place anyway.

Gunhilds · 14/02/2024 14:25

Tui Magic Life Fuerteventura has several pools, the largest one is heated. (the others were empty and freezing.)

honeybee1986 · 16/02/2024 12:18

@Soupit
Hard rock location wise is not the best as it's about 15 mins taxi to Costa adeje / playa del duque beach / fanabe which a lovely promenade with nice restaurants etc .
Playa paraiso which the hotel is situated has a few restaurants, we tried the Italian , Indian , and a wonderful little restaurant called 'Yummy' we went back a few times too. The hotel is quite big with lots of pools/ restaurants too which are good too and the buffet in the evening . If you are keen on venturing out a lot in the day / evening prob not the best location unless don't mind getting a taxi .

We didn't feel we needed too as the hotel was so so nice so just spent one day out at playa del duque beach which is stunning .

There is an adults pool but not adult only hotel , Lots for kids and a great kids club. X

honeybee1986 · 16/02/2024 12:20

@Jessica60 the lagoon pool at hard rock Tenerife is 100% heated, the huge one . It was like a bath x
