Canaries with heated pools

I'm looking for next year, winter sun in the Canaries. I need somewhere that has a lovely heated pool and is good hotel for children age 7 and 13, poss AI. Hotels only don't want a villa or to do much self-catering.

I have seen that the jet2 site lists if the pool is heated but when you read the reviews people say that the pools were cold. So not always accurate.

So I'm looking for some ideas, places that you guys have already been to the definitely have a nice warm pool.
Thank you.

I haven't been personally - but a friend and his family were in the Cordial Mogan Playa in January and said the pools were heated. They were impressed with the place anyway.

That's good to hear. Going in four weeks.

We’re in Tenerife at the moment, weather is beautiful! But I think that there is an issue everywhere with pools, last year we went to Siam Park and it was freezing across the whole park! We wondered if it was a Spanish issue with limiting the heating of pools related to the energy crisis? Last year we stayed at Hotel Baobab and had a jacuzzi which was lovely but the pools were cool.

Currently we are at Puerto de la Cruz and dh tells me the pool here is warm (Casablanca apartments), but it was 28 degrees today, much warmer than last February, so that may have made a difference?

@wonderstuff may I ask what your overall thoughts on Casablanca apartments were? I’m looking to take 4 and 7 year old away, we’ve not done a family holiday abroad since before Covid and I feel a bit out of touch with it all! Everything I find within budget has a catch. I’ve decided it would have to be Canaries to be warm enough… this place is coming up at a good price for Easter so I’m tempted to book. TIA 😊

@Jazz129 we had a lovely time, they are basic, but had plenty of room and were clean and comfortable (pillows were a bit hard was my only gripe). The location was good for walking into Puerto de la Cruz and bus to Santa Cruz was easy. Decent food option in town. We hired a car for the day via the hotel and drove up Tiède. Bar did a decent café léché.. We booked with Jet2, and we couldn’t find a better DIY deal.

That’s so helpful @wonderstuff, thank you!

I have read that pools in Spain are only allowed to be heated by solar panels not mains electricity or something like that due to energy shortages. I’m sure hotels would be able to implement this in a country with as much sun as Spain but possibly not many have.

@IwishIcouldfinishabook what month did you go please?

OP, We’ve just come back from Tenerife, staying at GF Isabel in Costa Adeje.

The mail pool is big, and heated. It’s set low down in the hotel site which cuts any breeze down.
I’m a wuss with pool temps but this was jump in warm.

Can your DC swim?
Because your question is then asking for heated kids pools.

btw, armbands were allowed in the main pool but not inflatables.

Thank you for the info.
One can swim the other can't.
They love using their inflatables though.

Iberostar Anthelia has several pools, one is like a bath in the cooler months

H10 hotels definitely have heated pools . The Rubicorn Palace in Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is gorgeous

We stayed at the Rubicon Palace and loved it too. BUT we went in March two years ago, and most of the pools were absolutely freezing, especially the main large pool, which was a shame, as it looked lovely. There was one smaller pool that was heated, but it was still quite cold. I'm not too bad with pools and would go in it, but many people didn't go in at all. The kids seemed to manage though.

Hotel Botanico in Tenerife was wonderful. I haven't been there for several years (since having children) - you'd need to check they allow children!

tanstaafl · 20/03/2024 17:43

Just to add, pools that have lifeguards, like GF Isabel, don’t allow inflatables as they block the view for the lifeguards.
