Weather in Lanzarote

Hi all! We are off to Lanzarote for the first time this summer. However, all I’ve heard seen we booked is how bad the weather is. Especially the wind! We are away end of July - beginning of august. Anyone been this time of year and can fill me with hope? Because i feel gutted at all the comments so far :(

We went early August last year - the weather wasn't great tbh. Cloudy and surprisingly cool mornings, usually cleared up by the afternoon but then the wind picked up.

Not for me.

sailrunski · 15/04/2023 22:02

Sorry, I've just re-read and you wanted hope! We did have same hot sunshine in the afternoons!

Thenoseymother · 15/04/2023 22:05

Yeah, that kind of echoes the majority of the comments I’ve received. Ugh, I wish I did a bit more research before booking!

We went in May last year and it was lovely. It was a bit windy but I think Lanzarote is always windy.

theangrylion · 15/04/2023 22:06

I went there a few years ago in august and the weather was really muggy and quite windy. Sitting on the beach was a pain as when the wind picked up, the sand would literally slice you.

justasking111 · 15/04/2023 22:07

Lanzarote is breezy, but it's a welcome breeze. More comfortable in the summer

sailrunski · 15/04/2023 22:07

Same. Despite the weather, we did have a nice time. It's a lovely island for a visit, the volcanic landscape was spectacular

dementedpixie · 15/04/2023 22:08

We went last year at the end of June/start of July. I wouldn't have said it was overly windy tbh. We had good weather and enjoyed the holiday

Windingdown · 15/04/2023 22:08

We went in June and it was lovely and sunny but very breezy. It's known for its windsurfing for a reason.

rookiemere · 15/04/2023 22:09

We went in October and it was absolutely roasting. No issues with wind at all.

Thenoseymother · 15/04/2023 22:10

I don’t mind breeze! I can cope with that. But wouldn’t be impressed with no sunshine lol

Depends on which side of island and which resort. Wind & waves vary. One side of island great for surf - north west. East side has gentle waves.
South side has few waves etc
Been three times and always hot. 25-30 degrees.

Unsureif · 15/04/2023 22:11

Where are you staying?

We went to CT last year and I was so disappointed by the weather. It was actually cold! Only one day out of 10 was there sun before about 2pm.

A friend went to PdC and it was much better down that way.

bigmistakes · 15/04/2023 22:15

We’ve been in December, February twice, June and July. Always lovely weather, occasionally windy or cloudy but mostly perfect. I love that there are no mosquitoes unlike the rest of Europe. It’s a beautiful island away from the tourist traps.

Marchsnowstorms · 15/04/2023 22:19

Is second that it's a beautiful island. Hire a car and have a drive round places for a couple of days. We've been this year and it was roasting in CT when we went for a day. We have stayed in PDC & PB previously.
Loads to do

Scottishlanza · 15/04/2023 22:19

It’s often cloudy on a morning but will still burn if you don’t apply cream. By lunch the breeze will be welcome. We tackle it by getting up later on a morning whilst it’s cloudy and staying out later in the day, eg we won’t go in to shower til 6.30pm then eat at 8.30 ish.

Marchsnowstorms · 15/04/2023 22:20

Btw previous times we have had zero mosquitos but wierdly this year there was (quite a few) and we all got bitten. A few times. I always thought the breezy conditions stopped them.

Scottishlanza · 15/04/2023 22:21

Btw I think a lot moaning about the weather go in the winter months when the weather is definitely better than home but can be varied. We always get a tan tho

pavillion1 · 15/04/2023 22:23

we went in october one year weather was amazing.

Marchsnowstorms · 15/04/2023 22:28

We've had great weather in April May and June

usernotfound0000 · 15/04/2023 22:30

I've been lots of times, the only time it was bad was in January- and even then it was rare for it to be so bad! It is breezy but usually welcome as it does get hot.

IWasFunBeforeMum · 15/04/2023 22:32

Definitely take something for the evenings

fairtrauchled · 15/04/2023 22:33

We were in Lanzarote last October / November and the weather was fantastic. We had 11 days of wall to wall sunshine with very little cloud or wind.

USaYwHatNow · 15/04/2023 22:34

Went in June last year and it was great weather. Going again in June and September this year and expecting the same!

Songbird54321 · 15/04/2023 22:41

We went a few years ago and stayed in puerto del carmen. It was absolutely roasting! It did have a breeze but we needed it. Just take a cardie or something for the evenings if you're out and about.
If you stay up in the mountain bit (I want to say playa blanca but not 100%) then I think it's much cloudier
