Sent my application Saturday, posted old passport Sunday. Status is still saying as 'old passport not received' - will be chasing up this week to make sure they have it!

washingwakeup · 05/06/2022 12:53

Three weeks on the button for mine, and my DC before me.

Thanks, but that link isn’t working for me.

Applied 3/4 for child renewal and still waiting. 9 weeks and 1 day so far. Due to travel on 16/6 to a wedding and now I’m less than 2 weeks until travel
I'm being given the runaround about an upgrade - they seem to have lost an additional document they asked for which they have definitely received a month ago.
On top of this they don’t even need what they have asked for and haven’t explained why they have asked for it.

Lost count of the different people I have spoken to who have all given me conflicting information.

However my adult passport renewal came back in less than 4 weeks from the same office so it’s total pot luck.

I applied for a renewal for dd and a first for ds on 2nd May. We received dd's new passport today. We had a text confirming that ds was printed on Saturday so going by how long dd's took, we should hopefully get ds' sometime beginning of next week.

ObjectionHearsay · 07/06/2022 08:14

So we applied for 2 adult renewals, a adult change of name on a passport and one child renewal on the 30/04/2022

2 adult renewals came through the post on 25/2022

The change of name came through 30/50/2022 - this one required a new photo submission for red eye

Child's passport has been approved today - this one required mother's wedding certificate to be posted as mother's name had changed since last passport. So delay was ordering a new wedding certificate from the registry office, as original was already in the passport office with mother's change of name passport. Registry office took 3 days to dispatch new certificate and post it.

So all in all 6 weeks total for all passports to be approved, child's passport will arrive end of this week. All processed at Durham passport office.

We go away in August so I'm relieved!

I applied for child to adult renewal, child lost renewal and child first passport on 26th April. The child to adult was back in a couple of weeks. The lost one is apparently with an examiner and has been since May 6th. The first passport, they requested my marriage certificate for a couple of weeks ago!

However they have my marriage certificate atm as I applied for a renewal with name change beginning of May which came back within 3 weeks but they still have my marriage certificate! I have asked for the applications to be linked to save waiting for it to come back to send it off again, had a phonecall last tue from someone who took the pex numbers to link them, as yet nothing!

Basically 2 easy quick ones and 2 still waiting. However I was told we should have them by 10th July so 🤞

Well that was surprising. DS' passport arrived today.

I got DC's child passport renewal back today - 9 weeks after I applied.

GreekGod · 07/06/2022 20:53

approx 2 months for us, DD renewal sent first week in April and got it yesterday

TwinklingFairyLights · 07/06/2022 20:56

I'd get passports, driving licenses etc now if you can. Civil Servants may be striking from September, according to the news.

countdowntonap · 07/06/2022 21:10

Applied - 27/04/2022
They recent my old passport - 04/05/2022
Passport printed - today 07/06/2022

Just under 6 weeks.
Husband applied on same date, and his old passport was received before mine. No update from passport office yet.

funtimesahead100 · 07/06/2022 21:49

Sent end of April to belfast for OH and DD renewal, both back within 3 weeks, even though i knew they had the old passport (tracked), they didn't acknowledge it for about 6 days after receipt, once that was done though all the next stages were updated every couple of days

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 07/06/2022 21:52

Applied weekend of 21 May. Sent old passport off on 23 May. Took a week for it to be logged as having been received. Application approved today, waiting on it being printed and dispatched now.

PinkTonic · 07/06/2022 22:00

I applied 29 April and my old passport was delivered to them 2 May. It took over a fortnight for my application to update from “send us your old passport” so I expected it to take the 10-12 weeks. My new one was printed 26 May and received a couple of days later.

mymindisamuckingfuddle · 07/06/2022 22:03

Well I did a new application (child) early May. Had ID confirmed online (by the same person that had confirmed for my renewal a few weeks previously and is definitely on the list to do it) and sent birth certificate off. They received the birth certificate two weeks ago.

Just been informed that they need someone else to confirm child's identity!! Why, FFS? They did mine mere weeks ago and nothing has changed!

So off I go to find another person on the list to verify online for me.

What a farce. Honestly it's an absolute shambles. Luckily we're not in a rush for them to come back.

ChickpeaPie · 08/06/2022 16:51

4 weeks on the dot for my child’s renewal

Cluckycluck · 08/06/2022 22:41

Under 3 weeks for mu adult renewal.

LadyIckenham · 08/06/2022 23:27

3 child renewals submitted online last month.
Two were back within 2 weeks, the other within 3.
That's actually the fastest I have ever received passports back unless
I've paid for a fast track service.

ForAFriend123 · 11/06/2022 07:15

Is there anything at all that can be done if it gets really close to the wire?
We fly 7 July, acknowledgment of old passport received 7 June.

Panicking Confused

Girlmama · 11/06/2022 10:43

We sent away 2 adult renewals, a child renewal and a child first passport on 2nd May. Recieved the renewals on 12th May (Bootle office), 20th May (Peterborough), 22nd May (Hemel Hempstead) and the first passport yesterday (Liverpool).

ScottishStar · 12/06/2022 10:04

Child renewal: applied on 24th April, received passport on 6th June.

anna77uk · 04/01/2023 17:49

Recently had to check up on this for a friend, they say some sites still show old guidance from 4-6 weeks, when its actually 6-8 due to recent backlog and royal mail strikes if your sending by post, so watch out

I got this info from: www.passports-office.co.uk/blog/how_long_passports_renew/

Post office strikes in 2022 continuing into Jan/Feb 2023 which are also effecting delivery of forms to HM Passport Office

Porridgeislife · 04/01/2023 17:54

I applied for a child’s first passport a few days before Christmas.

Sent old documents in on Christmas eve, was notified they were received yesterday, passport approved an hour later. Printed today apparently so I’d guess about two weeks round trip, with Christmas in between.
