Would you recommend going there as a family?

Yes go to both every year.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 26/08/2019 16:48

Turkey we went to Club Marvy in May and it was amazing. Kids age 5 and 8 keep asking to go back!

olivo · 26/08/2019 16:53

Yes to Dubai. Have taken the children since they were small babies, now teens. Not everyone's cup of tea but we love it.

DianaOhlbaum99999 · 26/08/2019 16:57

I've been to both countries and I can say with full confidence that the best option is 2 weeks in Turkey.

Shehz21 · 26/08/2019 16:57

Yes to Dubai!
Been there with DD since she was a 3 months old bub, will be her 4th time to Dubai in October! She loves it Smile

Bunnybigears · 26/08/2019 16:59

Lots and lots of people go to both on family holidays on a regular basis, what are you worried about?

Had fantastic family holidays in both. Any specific worries/queries?

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 26/08/2019 17:10

Had fab holidays in both, more recently Turkey this year. Lovely easy family holidays. What are your concerns?

noenergy · 26/08/2019 21:58

I have been to both many times and prefer Turkey now that I have kids.

It depends on what you are looking for out of the holiday, the all inclusive resorts are great in Turkey especially along Lara Beach in Antalya.

I'm thinking of heading to Dubai at October half term as it will be warmer than Turkey.

Clayplease · 26/08/2019 21:58

Had a great time in Turkey a few years back, so beautiful on the coast!

ShanghaiDiva · 27/08/2019 04:44

Have been to both.
I think Turkey is much more interesting than Dubai imo, but when comparing a city with a whole country that's not really surprising.

xoxoluna · 27/08/2019 05:09

Been to Dubai, interesting place to visit.

Zoflorabore · 27/08/2019 05:15

Just been to Turkey for the third time in 4 years. We went to the same hotel each time because it was so amazing!

My dc are 16 and 8 and we had a choice to go anywhere at all as it was a present. We all said Turkey straight away. It's the most amazing country and I feel very safe there.

CheesecakeAddict · 27/08/2019 05:17

Turkey was nice but I'm not sure I'd ever go back (we were in Marmaris). The men were quite leary and it was just exhausting. Several men offered to buy my 6 year old sister because they wanted a blonde haired wife for their son 🤮. I'm sure there are different parts of Turkey which are nicer, but this put me off.

Toneitdown · 27/08/2019 05:21

I much prefer turkey over Dubai. Just thoroughly check out where you're going because Turkey has some pockets of civil unrest at the moment. It's a big country so there should be plenty of safe places to go

edgeofheaven · 27/08/2019 06:05

Turkey if you're talking about the seaside resorts like Bodrum, Cesme, etc. We went this past summer and it was lovely. No issues around safety and despite what you see in the news, most people are still drinking beers and wearing bikinis.

Dubai - I've never been but there are a lot more stories about foreign tourists facing legal issues than I've seen in Turkey.

The2Ateam · 27/08/2019 06:08

CheesecakeAddict Do you think they may have been joking?!

cricketmum84 · 27/08/2019 06:21

I didn't like Turkey at all. Same reason as @CheesecakeAddict leery men, disgruntled locals, horrible incident that I'll never forget. Wouldn't go back if it was free.

Dubai - DHs friend lived out there for a few years. Says it's the most amazing place ever but beware of the heat. It can hit mid forties in summer which is too hot for little ones imo.

BellyButton85 · 27/08/2019 06:21

Dubai was the worst holiday we ever had and Turkey the best!

BellyButton85 · 27/08/2019 06:23

Just not Marmaris! Never EVER again

LuluBellaBlue · 27/08/2019 06:28

Loved Turkey, didn’t enjoy Dubai.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 27/08/2019 13:17

Not been to Dubai but I love Turkey. I have been going for nearly 30 years, lived out there for 3 years< i am married to a Turkish man and now we have a house there :)

@CheesecakeAddict Marmaris is the only part of Turkey I would never want to go, too tacky, too commercialised and not a good representation of Turkey at all.

nornironrock · 27/08/2019 14:49

I've been to Turkey for work. It was OK.

I've also been to Dubai for work. It's a horrific, backward, fake plastic autocratic nightmare. Please, before you book anything, look into what Dubai (and the rest of the UAE) is. Look into the working conditions of the people who keep their economy going. Consider where your tourist pounds will end up, and if you consider that to be acceptable.

Doyouavocado · 27/08/2019 14:54

Jumping on this.. booking a holiday to Turkey soon, where do people recommend? I have been before but only to Marmaris and agree with what people are saying about sleezy men.
