Filchymindedvixen · 23/07/2007 19:00

that hogwarts thing is great - they do a pirate ship one too!

LIZS · 23/07/2007 19:08

Some good books to read together - ds did first Harry Potter with dh and I did Charlotte's Web with dd. Waterproofs, including trousers!

KTWhoMustNotBeNamed · 24/07/2007 08:21

Wetsuits and I make the kids wear them whenever we go to the beach (even just for a walk) because invariably they will get their clothes wet. Cuts down on the washing....

swimsuits and find local pool

MerryMarigold · 24/07/2007 08:32

monopoly is like my idea of hell not holiday! for those old enough, boggle and yahtzee are more preferable...

MegaLegs · 24/07/2007 08:51

FMV - we are camping at Tristram on the cliff top at Polzeath, is that where you will be DG? We booked it in March (the day they opened as our friends go every year and it is v.v.v. popular.)

DG I promise not to come looking for you but if you see a tall blonde lady, a beardy balding blonde tree surgeon being followed by a gaggle of noisy boys (smallest will be crawling and saying "bah" whilst pointing at sky.)give us a secret MN wink

MegaLegs · 24/07/2007 08:54

Just looked at your photos DG were they taken at Polzeath? Your youngest three are similar ages to my older three - if you are on the same campsite they might all pal up anyway there will be no escape .

I am only joking - I'm shy too!

They are miserable and one of my old ones died yesterday found her in the corner of the run. Definately slowing down on the egg production front too.

My broodies chicks are due to hatch on Thursday - hope it warms up.

ThestralFeet · 24/07/2007 09:18

We are off to the IoW on Saturday with dd (3.0)

We are taking...

Grandparents :0
Portable DVD player
Wet weather gear
Colouring stuff & sticker books
A healthy sense of humour

We can still explore rock pools in the rain

Sad about the chickens

MintChocChippyMinton · 24/07/2007 14:22

i've just been to millets and bought proper waterproofs for the DC and some wellies. For our summer holiday. We will be on the beach LOL

VoldemortrepentsandmarriesLuna · 24/07/2007 14:23

in answer to the title = grandparents.

Leslaki · 24/07/2007 16:05

Enid
To give you some hope we're off to Brittany soona nd I've just checked Quimper (bit further south than you but not by much!) and it's sunny all week with temps 20 - 22. SO not basking wethaer but at least it's warm n dry! Fingers crossed for august!!!!

We've been to France for last 5 yrs camping but dh never needed to be subjected to speedo hell! Haha - may give me some much needed merriment if weather is atrocious!!!

DumbledoresGirl · 24/07/2007 17:25

Megalegs - yes there were taken there.

Don't worry about being a stalker. The minute I read your post saying you were going to be there at the same time as us, I called dh over to the computer and showed him your photos and said "Memorise these faces! We might bump into them in Cornwall!" So we now have the image of 4 blond boys in our minds.

In the end though, we decided that you and your friends will make such a noticable group anyway (what was it? 9 children under 8? - shudder!) that we will recognise you that way.

We aren't camping though We always sit on the same side of the beach - on the right looking at the sea, pretty well always the same spot too! How about you or is this your first time?

DumbledoresGirl · 24/07/2007 17:26

Ah just read your earlier post Megalegs. So you will stay on the left hand side of the beach will you?

PanicPants · 24/07/2007 17:40

We're off to Brittany (Nr St Malo) on sat.

Pointydog you never said anything about the alligator park

We're taking

Wellies
Raincoats
Henry bear (we need no other toy for ds - nothing comes close to the bloody bear - pp has vague ideas of 'losing' Henry in Brittany...)
Bucket and spades

Thats about it I think. Anyway we'll spend all day in the alligator park

PanicPants · 24/07/2007 17:41

Leslaki - what site did you use to check the temps? Do you think that will apply to Northern Brittany too? [hopeful emoticon]

pointydog · 24/07/2007 17:44

yes, alligator park en route to mont st michel so if your dc are wailing and bored out of their beans at being dragged round an abbey, you can always tempt them with alligators

Surfermum · 24/07/2007 17:51

Our friends stayed at Tristram last year, Megalegs. They woke up one morning to see dolphins playing in the surf . We'll be further up the coast at Crantock. So far I've packed:

Uno
Monopoly
Cluedo
Cards
Yahtzee
Mousie Mousie
Scrabble
Tweenies card game
Washing machine game

I have to cater for an 11 year old and a 4 year old hence the variety.

MegaLegs · 24/07/2007 19:46

DG - we used to go to Tristram years ago pre kids (same group of us but just without the kids) practically every summer for about 5 years. This will be first trip down to Cornwall with all four. We took DS1 to St Agnes when he was almost 1.

I love Cornwall - can't wait. We will keep our eyes peeled for your dark haired surf dudes.
