Just dropped my daughter at Stansted Airport. You know how you can pick up and drop off at Heathrow, Gatwick etc,,......well not at Stansted. If you want to just drop someone off or pick them up at the terminal for even 30 seconds you are charged. It''s been renamed"Express drop off" and you are informed it is private land that is camera controlled. Its £4 for 10 mins and additional there after. Madness. Somebody is making a mint. There is nowhere else to stop so they have you by your wobbly bits !!!!!!

dadsaworry · 07/04/2019 13:11

And Bournemouth too Angry

nrpmum · 07/04/2019 13:13

Gatwick and Heathrow the same as well

DeadBod · 07/04/2019 13:14

I saw this at the airport yesterday. Is there a way of dropping someone off at the airport without getting a charge?

notacooldad · 07/04/2019 13:14

I know!!!

CassandraCross · 07/04/2019 13:15

Is that right outside the terminal? If it is it's gone up again it was £3.50 when I was there in March!!!

Macaroonmayhem · 07/04/2019 13:15

Edinburgh too ☹️

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/04/2019 13:16

Luton too.

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/04/2019 13:17

And Bristol

SubisYodrethwhenLarping · 07/04/2019 13:18

Is that in the drop off part in short term car park where they need a bus to go in and out?

I used to drop off and pick up from bus stop number 13 and it was free for 10 mins

That is really mean of them if they charge and the passenger still has to get the bus to and from

CassandraCross · 07/04/2019 13:18

DeadBod they do a 'free' set down service - you park in a particular bay in the medium stay car park where you get an hour's free parking, then get on a bus which takes you to the terminal. You need to time it right though as going over the hour is costly.

acatcalledjohn · 07/04/2019 13:19

At Luton you get a set amount of free parking in the mid (15 mins?) and long term (2 hrs?) parking car parks. I always do that and catch the shuttle service to the main terminal.

SubisYodrethwhenLarping · 07/04/2019 13:20

Sorry yes mid term parking at stansted

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/04/2019 13:21

acatcalledjohn is that recently?

INeedNewShoes · 07/04/2019 13:23

At Luton the queue to get to drop off is always awful anyway so you're better off being dropped off and picked up at the mid or long stay car parks which are free for drop off/pick up

Pluginwall · 07/04/2019 13:26

Cost is scandalous. There is a free drop off zone at Stansted (clearly signposted) but it is a bus ride away from the terminal. It cost me £4 to drop off my Disabled parents the other day and I had to leave them by the help point with all their luggage.

lazyarse123 · 07/04/2019 13:44

Leeds and bradford too. I dropped my daughter and her friend off but didn't take any money. Luckily security let me out as I was getting a bit upset. I now drop them on a side road and they walk in, takes about 10 minutes.

TeenTimesTwo · 07/04/2019 13:46

And Southampton

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 07/04/2019 13:47

Stansted has been been rip off for a long time. I sometimes collect my parents from there and I wont set off from home until they are practically outside waiting.

acatcalledjohn · 07/04/2019 13:49

@DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen Last time I used the long stay was in November.

Mummylin · 07/04/2019 13:50

They have made it in Bournemouth that you can't be dropped off anywhere but in airport so you have to pay. At one time people were dropping off at the end of the road and walking in, now you can't even do that.Robbers !

BoffinMum · 07/04/2019 13:50

Can we start a protest movement? It's serious rip off territory, particularly given the poor transport connections at some times of the day and night.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/04/2019 13:52

I might be completely wrong but I'm not sure that's an option now acatcalledjohn it didn't seem to be last week, just lots of people frantically scrabbling for change 😂

Tomtontom · 07/04/2019 13:53

@Pluginwall If your parents have a blue badge you can stay for longer but still pay the £4, or use the mid term car park and prearrange special assistance.

The charge is high to discourage people from using it. There are other options available.

CassandraCross · 07/04/2019 13:54

We do that Tali text when landed and then phone when outside. My lift sometimes waits at Starbucks so they are only a couple of minutes away anyway, but again you can only wait there for an hour and need to actually buy something as well.
