If we love Puerto Pollensa where else would suit?

We've been going to Puerto Pollensa for years and love it - kids are 5-8 and we love the low rise, the lovely restaurants and being near old towns like Pollensa. I'd like to go to mainland Spain this year - is there anywhere that might suit? Ideally we'd like an aparthotel with a kid's club. Thank you!

Portugal, Lagos, or Travera

WidowT I just hired a car and drove, easy & quick

Sorry to hijack the thread, but is the beach in Puerto Pollensa lovely?

We need to book our holiday soon, strongly leaning towards PP but keep reading mixed reviews about the beach. We do like to swim in the sea a fair bit.

The beaches in Cala D'or look possibly nicer, but get crowded.

Beaches in Cala D'Or are prettier... but they are small coves and packed!

We preferred PP so much more, lovely to stroll in the evenings along Pine Walk. A lovely feel to the place.

@Coralnails beaches in PP are nicer than Cala D'or. Not as packed, lovely shallow water.

Can I ask about the coach transfers to PP? Is it close to 2 hours? It’s really putting me off

We always get a private transfer and driving time is no more than 45 minutes from the airport to the Puerto Azul Suite Hotel in the centre of Puerto Pollensa where we always stay.

I guess a coach will take longer possibly driving a little slower and dropping off at multiple hotels and perhaps even multiple resorts if it's not high season.

@Coralnails, I think the mixed reviews of the beach in PP are because at the pine walk end of town the beach is narrower and there can be rocky areas under the water. Further along past the marina, the beach is wide, sandy and with a very gentle slope into the sea, we've always swum there with no problems even when DS was small.

Love PP but nowhere beats the Parafrugell area of Costa Brava IMO. Llafranc is our favourite of the 3 'towns' but it's an easy walk along the coast to Callela de Parafrugell (& there was a little road train I think but didn't use it so can't comment on efficiency etc) is a larger town but beach not as nice. It's really beautiful, under developed and family orientated little part of northern Spain that seems to be holiday destination for well-heeled Spaniards rather than masses of Brits.

I don't know Spain at all but love Kefalonia. How do the two compare for people who have been there?

Moraira in the Marina Alta is gorgeous. Pine covered hills, low rise and lovely bars and cafes. El Portet just half a mile away is a beautiful cove. Within easy reach are Denia and Javea. Easily as nice as Pollensa.

Valdemossa in Majorca is a lovely village slightly inland near Deia. Or try Port d'Andratx and Camp De Mar :)

Ibiza is a beautiful island. Cala Vedella is really nice. As is Santa Getrudis (inland), Portinax and Cala de Sant Vicent. The north of the island is less built up than the south. Ibiza town is worth a visit for a stroll and dinner.

Alvor is lovely in Portugal. Have you considered Val de Lobo or Quinta de Lago? They are nice too
