If we love Puerto Pollensa where else would suit?

We've been going to Puerto Pollensa for years and love it - kids are 5-8 and we love the low rise, the lovely restaurants and being near old towns like Pollensa. I'd like to go to mainland Spain this year - is there anywhere that might suit? Ideally we'd like an aparthotel with a kid's club. Thank you!

We love PP too, although i prefer Pollensa itself.
Many people have started threads on here asking your exact question and get lots of answers saying no where is like PP!
But Ibiza gets a very good name? I know a few people who all rave about Mijas area, and I think Torrrox area looks good-well it does on A Place in the Sun anyway! Grin

Nerja is beautiful. Busier than PP but just as charming.

No1HolidayPlanner · 29/12/2018 13:24

I love PP.. also love Alvor in Algarve.. been to Nerja..liked it but not as much as first 2.. Trying out Elounda in Crete this year for my 50th😊

TheBitterBoy · 31/12/2018 00:13

Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava, although the beach is more steeply shelved than Puerto Pollensa if that is important to you. Nerja is also lovely, but not yet found anywhere to top PP

Greengrotbag · 31/12/2018 16:01

Thanks everyone. My dh just thinks we should go there every year as it's so nice and easy. But I'd love something new. Tossa de mar is on my list so that's good to know Bitterboy

Have you tried a different area in the North part of the island? Apparently Deia is gorgeous. We went to Soller and port de Soller for a day and I thought it was lovely.

GreyGardens88 · 31/12/2018 16:16

Cavtat in Croatia is near Dubrovnik, it's similar in style to PP but a bit smaller

GreyGardens88 · 31/12/2018 16:17

Sorry, just saw you were looking at Spain Grin

Shesaysso · 01/01/2019 19:18

Try Santa Eulalia Ibiza

CatnissEverdene · 01/01/2019 19:24

Nerja is gorgeous, we loved it there. Calpe is very nice too, the beaches there were great and all the bars/restaurants very child friendly. Lots to explore in the area.

BonApp · 01/01/2019 19:42

Sorry to hijack, but where do you stay in PP? I’m just siftinh through 100000000 places now....

TheBitterBoy · 01/01/2019 22:12

@BonApp we stayed in Hoposa Villa Concha two years in a row. It's been refurbished since we stayed and is apparently even more lovely.

nancy75 · 01/01/2019 22:14

Nerja has a pebble beach, the place itself is ok but the beaches are not a patch on Mallorca

Amazonian27 · 02/01/2019 16:03

I have been to both and would second Alvor in the Algarve not Spain. The beach is absolutely gorgeous far nicer than PP. lots of lovely restaurants and has a safe family feel. Or Carvoeiro also in the Algarve has much smaller town beach but still lovely, lots of nice restaurants again and a safe family feel.

Greengrotbag · 02/01/2019 16:29

Hi Bonapp. We also stayed at the Villaconcha several times. Great place. Only downside is the biggest apartments only have one bedroom. We'd like two.

Greengrotbag · 02/01/2019 16:30

Thanks everyone. I'll look at Alvor too

Try Holiday letting website Vila Da Praia and look for the apartments with the best reviews. No holiday club but apartments are of a very high spec, lovely pool, excellent proximity to beach and lots of lovely restaurants. Our kids had an absolutely fabulous time at similar ages to yours it’s a lovely safe gated complex. Enough sun beds for everyone and a nice walk to the beautiful beach.

dottyp0104 · 02/01/2019 16:52

Have a look at Menorca. I was a Majorca only persin. Been going 25+ years. Went to Menorca last year and it was amazing. Soo much more child orientated.

MrsCar · 02/01/2019 16:54

I know someone who goes to PP one year and Mojocar in Spain the next.
I've never been to either, so can't advise

MrsCar · 02/01/2019 16:55

Mojacar

Coralnails · 02/01/2019 20:19

Greengrotbag sorry to hijack your thread but we are looking at booking the Concha in Puerto Pollensa, with a 4 and 11 year old.

Is it as lovely as the reviews say? Will be our first time going to Puerto Pollensa.

Greengrotbag · 02/01/2019 21:00

We love it but for me the downside was having to sleep on a sofa bed. We put kids to bed earlier but with an 11 year old not so easy. The evening entertainment was minimal which suited us but maybe not an 11 year old. However if he or she loves swimming it's ideal, there is a swim club many mornings and other stuff to do

Nowhere matches PP so far I’ve found. Didn’t like Alvor or Cavoiero at all, we didn’t find that Portugal had any of the charm of Mallorca. Soller is nice in Mallorca but Deia is nothing, it’s a Teeny village with nice views, about one shop and a lovely view. The area around it is lovely though. Also been to Mojacar, again not a patch on PP.

It’s a tough one, we keep trying other places and always end up back there for an easy beach break

Amazonian27 · 07/01/2019 17:28

Each to their own. We enjoyed PP but prefer Portugal love the food, laid back charm, the hospitality, friendliness and from locals, climate as we stay near the coast so enjoy the Atlantic breeze, the big beautiful beaches, scenery, how laid back it is. Also we have usually had spacious apartments and something for everyone in the family.

WidowTwonky · 12/01/2019 22:16

Can I ask about the coach transfers to PP? Is it close to 2 hours? It’s really putting me off
