Since the last thread (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/a2043055-Passport-Processing-Time) is now full I though we could continue our discussions here!

I just got through to the Belfast office after hitting redial 39 times. It's 3 weeks since they were checked at the post office.

Spoke to a lovely lady who confirmed our passports are still pending, mainly because mine is a replacement for a lost passport. I almost burst into tears but she said she can get DS' renewal looked at tomorrow and will put an alert on mine and if I ring back on Monday I should be able to get it upgraded.

God I feel sick again. We travel on the 9th July (though we ideally need them before the 5th).

Please everyone keep their fingers crossed for us.

chocchoc30 · 25/06/2014 13:04

What number did you call?

lurkingmurking · 25/06/2014 13:15

Chocchoc it's 02890789464

chocchoc30 · 25/06/2014 13:18

I just got through and practically cried down the phone. She said it was still in a box waiting to be looked at in the next two days. I then said I was desperate she said she would go get it and get looked at asap.

Fingers crossed.

lurkingmurking · 25/06/2014 13:19

I bet you spoke to the same lady I did! I have everything crossed for you.

Do you go on Sunday?

lurkingmurking · 25/06/2014 13:26

I've also emailed Paul Pugh in desperation - [email protected]

chocchoc30 · 25/06/2014 13:32

Sunday 6am.

lurkingmurking · 25/06/2014 13:35

Have you got your MP involved?

chocchoc30 · 25/06/2014 13:38

Would he do anything?

lurkingmurking · 25/06/2014 13:40

It's got to be worth a shot. I've seen a couple of stories on here where the MP has helped.

ScarletButterfly · 25/06/2014 13:54

Just got through to Durham. Sent off for first adult passport on the 2nd June, it was received on the 3rd. Hasn't even been looked at yet. Was told that they deal with them in the order that they come in, and they're still a while from sending mine to the examiner yet.

Not going away until the 8th August, but I need my passport back to apply for dds (couldn't send hers in with mine as I needed name change deed from the solicitor. Now can't apply for hers as I don't have a passport number and the passport office have all of my documents which I would need to send in with her application). I was going to do the one week turnaround with the child's passport, can with mine with it being first adult. But still does not look too promising. Angry

kutiekathryn · 25/06/2014 14:10

chocchoc30 - my MP helped push it through so I'd definitely recommended doing that, my MP rang me the day after I sent her an email and sent me updates most days until we finally got it! I also emailed paul pugh which I think also helped not sure if you've already done it but try again, i emailed him twice and on my second email which i sent on a friday night, the saturday morning i got a call to say it had now been examined and was all fine! mine took 6 weeks in total for first time adult passport. sorry not sure exactly what ur situ is whether ur just waiting on delivery or still awaiting examination!

chocchoc30 · 25/06/2014 14:15

Still waiting examination I will see what happens today and then think about emailing mp etc.

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/06/2014 14:18

I send my child's renewal on the 12th June. Got a text on the 16th to say it had been received - this was via check and send.

I phoned yesterday and got through straight away. Apparently its currently with the examiner. We travel on the 11th July and was told in all likelihood it should be back in time but if I don't have it by the 4th July to call back and they'd do the fast track thing.

Must say the lady was very helpful and seemed very calm.

Kicking myself for not going it earlier. Will be doing my renewal as soon as its within the 9 months.

Good luck to everyone waiting!

Honestly, DH probably thinks I'm having an affair the number of times I check my phone for texts Wink

kutiekathryn · 25/06/2014 14:20

okay best of luck, know how you must be feeling but heard a lot of stories of people receiving passports day before or on day of travel. fingers crossed for you.

Lookingforadvice123 · 25/06/2014 14:28

What office is yours at mrscampbellblack ?

rolytheflycatcher · 25/06/2014 14:32

After emailing Paul Pugh on Saturday and MP making a phone call on Monday (not sure if either of those things have any relevance at all), we received a call this morning to say that the child renewal was being issued today and should be received in a few days.

So that's 4 and a half weeks (assuming it does indeed land on the door mat in the next few days)

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/06/2014 14:40

Its at Liverpool.

So wishes I'd just driven to Newport and done it in person.

Be11e · 25/06/2014 14:43

Anyone got any recent time scales for chikds first passport? Liverpool office in particular.

lurkingmurking · 25/06/2014 15:07

I've tweeted my MP to see if she will help if it comes to it.

MrsCampbell that's exactly how I feel - I just wish I'd fast tracked in the first place

vinoandbrie · 25/06/2014 15:54

be11e I applied for my baby's first passport via Liverpool.

Did check and send on 22 May. In past couple of weeks have tracked online, emailed Paul Pugh etc to chase.

The countersignatory received a letter asking for confirmation of baby's name, dob etc last Saturday 21 June. I went up to the Liverpool office in person on Monday with baby (from London), to give in his response and to beg. The passport office let me in without an appointment and I saw a woman who put an alert on it to call me ASAP.

That evening I got a call from the guy who sent the letter to the countersignatory saying it had been passed and he was sending it for printing. The next morning I got a text from HM Passport saying it's being printed. I won't rest easy until it arrives though!

Caz306 · 25/06/2014 15:56

How do I find my mp on twitter so I can tweet him! I've just emailed Paul Pugh!!

chocchoc30 · 25/06/2014 16:23

Emailed my local mp and they called me straight away.

danielsmum78 · 25/06/2014 16:36

I've been having problems with my childs renewal. I started the process on the 8th May but posted the signed declaration etc on the 27th May. They looked at it and I hadn't signed the form so I had to resubmit it. They received this on Friday and told me it would be fast tracked. Its now stuck in for scanning and I have no idea when this will be scanned. I've emailed Paul Pugh, Theresa May, David Cameron, Nick Clegg, and our local MP and MSP. I have emailed as many folk as I could to try and get a resolution to this. I appreciate that I made an error but I cannot fathom what is so hard about a Childs renewal. I chase the passport office twice a day and I literally are getting nowhere fast. This is Peterborough office. I appreciate that this is not the fault of the staff but much higher up the pecking order who have created this mess.

And I didn't book my holiday until about two weeks ago!!!!! I'm extremely nervous that this cannot be sorted
