Passport Processing Time

Anyone have any idea on processing time of First Passports at the moment? We sent our daughters application via check and send almost 2 weeks ago and no idea on when to expect it back. Hopefully someone can shed some light?!

Vietnammark, thanks. I know the emergency documents. But since dd will go back to UK several times during the school year and all by herself, I worry that it may cause her trouble when going through the immigration with an emergency paper.

Hairbrush123 · 11/06/2014 10:03

Just got a text saying that my passport saying my passport is being printed and should be on the way within the next few working days! Yay! So happy! smile

Hairbrush123 · 11/06/2014 10:04

hecticmummy · 11/06/2014 10:05

Hairbrush 123: Fantastic news!!! When do you travel again? I assume they will deliver within 24 hours as that seems to be the case for most people.

Hairbrush123 · 11/06/2014 10:09

21st of June so next Saturday! Thank you Hecticmummy! This forum has been invaluable to me! Thank you all so much! Still won't be 100% relaxed until it's here! What about you? Is your passport there now?

becksmay25 · 11/06/2014 10:13

Hairbrush123 · 11/06/2014 10:25

Oh sorry Hecticmummy I just realized you haven't got yours yet! Have you tried contacting your MP? And phoning the direct number? Which office did it go to?

Janjanmama · 11/06/2014 11:50

Liverpool office photos. Today's Guardian.
I'm panic!

fresh · 11/06/2014 11:50

Feeling a little guilty - have been watching this thread as my 2 DC's passports were in the system for renewal. They were received at Durham on 19th May. I haven't chased them up as we don't need them until the end of July.

Both have just been delivered to me.

betold · 11/06/2014 11:52

Just received a text saying my DCs passports are being printed!

Liverpool office according to 0300 number.

Timeline for those interested:
Applied online, posted docs 14th May.
Called 0300 yesterday who said Liverpool had received the docs and they were sent to the examiner on the 19th May.
Text today saying passport being sent to print - not sure if that is one or both.

So no idea if the chasing email from 0300 did anything or not...

4 weeks between posting the forms (standard 1st class) and printing the passports for child's first passport - not too bad considering the photos and panic!

Hairbrush123 · 11/06/2014 12:06

Betold. That's great news! Hope you have a nice holiday!

betold · 11/06/2014 12:10

Thanks hairbrush

Fingers crossed for everyone else waiting.

Great news, have a good one!

Holidayhopeful3 · 11/06/2014 12:58

Sorry last message meant for hairbrush123.

Hairbrush123 · 11/06/2014 13:39

Thanks holidayhopeful3. Crossing my fingers for you and all of those waiting to hear about their passport.

Here's my timescale to give others' a bit of guidance and hope.

17th of May: applied online and sent off in the post via 1st first guaranteed next day delivery.
22nd of May: Belfast Office received my application and other constituent.
4th of June: panicked as I haven't heard anything about it and it was approaching the 3 week mark.
5th of June: looked at forums to behold the horror of the backlog of passports so I phone up the 0300 to be told that my passport was under examination and will be with me in under 2 weeks and requested a callback (72hrs) so I can get it upgraded and emailed my MP about it.
9th of June: phoned Belfast direct to see what was really going on as they didn't phone back was told my passport hadn't even been seen yet and was awaiting examination so the woman alerted it as urgent examination and will be going under examination as early as tomorrow.
11th of June: received a text today saying my passport is now going to be printed and will be with me in a few working days.

  • Made daily progress reports at 9AM at the 0845 (NOT 0300) number everyday to see where it is and will still until it arrives.

Travel on the 21st. I'm not going to be 100% content until my passport is in my hands before next Saturday!

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting! Hope you all get it on time! Smile

Hairbrush123 · 11/06/2014 13:46

yummmymummy1 - I'm so happy to hear that! That's fantastic!

Firewood · 11/06/2014 13:48

Just received our child's first passport back, timelines below if anyone is interested...

Child's renewal, Check & Send
Date of application: 14 May 2014
Date application received: 19 May 2014
Date passport sent to print: 4 June 2014
Date of Passport Receipt: 5 June 2014
Date of return of documents: 9 June 2014

Child's first, Check & Send
Date of application: 14 May 2014
Date application received: 19 May 2014
Date passport sent to print: 9 June 2014
Date of Passport Receipt: 11 June 2014
Date of return of documents: 11 June 2014

The old passport from the renewal was sent back in a envelope with Liverpool as the return address, so I'm assuming that's where our applications were sent. Fingers crossed for those of you still waiting.

LeapingOverTheWall · 11/06/2014 13:55

does anyone know if renewing a passport from a child's one to an adult one causes any additional difficulties? DD1 got a text yesterday to say they'd received her form, but she's now stressing that it won't get back in time not that I've been nagging her since March to get it done so it will be her own fault if she can't come on holiday with us

Sonya8007 · 11/06/2014 14:20

Just got my son's Bulgarian passport beck today but still no idea when the UK will be ready and it doesn't really matter any more because we got his other one
We can fly on 21st of June! ;)

Sonya8007 · 11/06/2014 14:24

Glad to hear that lots of people are getting their passports on time ;)
Enjoy your holidays! Well deserved! ;)

funambulist · 11/06/2014 14:39

Just wanted to ask for a bit of advice from the wise people on this thread.

I'm renewing my son's passport. Third renewal as he is 15. We have a while before we go on holiday but given the delays I am a little bit worried that there is a huge backlog to clear before they get to his application.

I'm still well within the 3 week estimate but although I sent his application off via the Post Office (having used check and send) on 2 June, I have not yet received a text saying that it has been received. Is that something to worry about? When did other people get a text to say that it was there? I don't feel that I can call to enquire about it at such an early stage, especially when there are people in real difficulties who are trying to get through, but at the same stage I don't want to just leave it and find out later that there are problems.
