Have you got your summer holiday sorted? Where are you going, and why did you choose it? Will you stay in a hotel, villa or other? Self catering or full service? Kids club? First time, or return visit?

Looking for some top tips and inspiration for my holiday "wish list", and hoping to live vicariously through my fellow Mumsnetters! Grin

Nowhere. Yahooo! No lists, no packing, no schlepping to the airport, no unforeseen accommodation disasters, no unpacking, no forgotten items or mountains of washing on our return. My brother, his wife and two small children will be coming over from OZ and staying with us for a month, so we'll just be kicking back in our garden enjoying the IssyMum/Fit Commune and having the odd day out.

P45 · 03/05/2006 14:35

One of the Kinderhotels, can´t remember which. Full board with kids club and kids have their own room. Kinderhotels returner as don´t think anything else could be so good or take less organisation!

fennel · 03/05/2006 14:38

nowhere much. normally we love holidays but have recently moved to Devon and we feel as though we're on constant holiday these days. we can't get over living near the beach.

Crackle · 03/05/2006 14:49

Fennel, I live in Devon too with a wonderful view of the sea.:) We will spend 6 weeks of the summer holidays surfing here and then we are going to Cornwall for a week to surf there.Grin

We are going back to Florida to do the parks. We are going for 2 weeks mid June, and my parents are coming along too - better for riding the coasters, etc whe DD (4yo) can't ride with us. It is our last term time holiday as DD starts school in September, and it was DD's choice (again for same reason really) and she was sensible enough to get grandparents on her side!

We have booked a fly drive with Virgin Atlantic, and we are staying in a 4 bed villa. We are getting all the tickets soon.

It's a return visit. We went two years ago, again with my parents but also my brother and sister that time.

willow2 · 04/05/2006 20:26

ludicrous though it may seem, yes I will be on holiday with Cod - my fault entirely, went on and on about how nice this place that she's now decided to try it... at the same time as the willow clan. Heaven help Lefkas.

Going to France on 17th May for 2 weeks to Eurocamp, one week in Chambord, Loire Valley and one week in Houlgate, Normandy. Can't wait as I spent a year in France at uni and it's the first time I've been back for ages, and also is first proper holiday since honeymoon in 2004.

In September we are going to a large barn in the lakes, with parents in law and brother in law and his family. Should be fun and even better, the PILs are paying!!

Also planning a few camping weekends away, I have a stressful full time job but can totally relax within one hour of having our tent up...

Going for 2 weeks in the Vendee in France where I grew up. It is mum and dad 40th year Wedding Anniversary so we are all organising a big family reunion (at least 100 of us)... can't wait because DD (9 months old) has maybe only met a quarter of the family!!!!
A question for you CGmum, where do you go camping during just week ends in the uk??? We love camping and haven't done for ages. Please ideas?????

lunavix · 05/05/2006 09:33

one week in static caravan in great yarmouth with hoseasons.

charliegreensmum · 05/05/2006 13:29

sunandmoon, we live in north east hampshire and don't like to travel too far for a weekend camping trip, but I work flexibly so we normally manage to avoid most of the rush on Friday evenings and get outselves a nice pitch Grin. This year we are hoping to get to Hollands Wood in the New Forest (which we love but I always take earplugs!!); West Bay Holiday Park in West Bay, Dorset; Tom's Field campsite which is near swanage and we want to try Blackberry Wood in Sussex. I find all my camping info/reviews on www.ukcamping.co.uk (sorry can't get the link thing to work). If I have any long weekends we will definitely camp in the Gower, South Wales as my Nan lived there when I was little and it's a beautiful area.

Hope this gets you inspired!!

Portugal for a fortnight at beginning of June with my parents in a villa.

Then Italy for a week in August to stay with in-laws (they've got a house there).
