We started talking about Pembrokeshire, and it appears dh has set his heart on Mull.

Has anyone got a personal recommendation of s/c cottage (to sleep 4)?

We like our comforts and want something nice, rather than something cheap. Probably in the vicinity of Tobermory rather than out in the sticks.
But not part of a complex or anything that would require us to be sociable

mull

i just thought i would post you a link for this cottage on Mull, we are thinking about it for this summer

tamum · 13/01/2006 15:29

I think we should all get our acts together next year and coordinate our visits so we can have a huge Mumsnet Go To Mull Meet-up.

Bink · 13/01/2006 15:32

well it would make an interesting comparison with this year's bink and her ten thousand relatives tribally gathering for her dad's 80th. Which is what we are doing.

I can't really believe Pa is going to be 80.

tamum · 13/01/2006 15:35

Lovely way to celebrate it though! Far nicer than just having a party. I hope you all have a lovely time

Bink - that looks lovely but there are five of us so I think it will be too small. Perhaps we will book the other place now for next year as you seem to need to do it well in advance.

Tamum - post to let us know what it was like after Easter.

Roisin, what a shame we'll miss you.

Yoyo, I will definitely report back. The cottage we got, which was the only one left, is about 3 miles from both the castle and Tobermory, so not ideal because we will have to get in the car pretty much every day I would expect. Looks a fabulous location though.

roisin · 15/01/2006 13:09

Which cottage are you staying at Tamum?

OP posts:
tamum · 15/01/2006 13:36

It's this one Roisin. I guess it has the advantage of being closer to Tobermory, but I would have preferred to be able to wander into the farm shop at all hours of the day

Have you got your Edinburgh trip all sorted out?

Miaou · 15/01/2006 14:05

tamum, which way are you going? Which ferry are you getting to get there?

tamum · 15/01/2006 14:46

Hi Miaou, we'll be going from Oban to Craignure, so M8 to Glasgow and then up the A82/A85 I should think. Haven't looked into it properly yet though! Calmac don't have their April timetables up yet, so can't book just now.

Miaou · 15/01/2006 14:51

Ah shame, if you were going the way roisin is going, you could have dropped in to see me - the route would take you within 200 yards of our house!

Have a lovely time anyway

tamum · 15/01/2006 14:58

Oh shame, it would have been nice to meet you! Although my guess is that by the time we've packed the car, bought the groceries and taken the guinea-pigs round to my parents we'll be in our usual mad dash to get to the ferry in time. You should come to Edinburgh

Miaou · 15/01/2006 15:20

Dh was saying as much to me the other day, I always forget how close we are to Glasgow and Edinburgh these days! (ie since we moved saaarf )

roisin · 15/01/2006 15:30

We're staying at this one in August.

We want to get the majority of the journey over on the Friday, then stay overnight somewhere near Fortwilliam, but haven't booked anywhere yet. Does anyone know of a reasonable B&B?

Glasgow/Edinburgh trip (Easter) is basically sorted. We're just staying in Travel Inns; hoping to travel by train - but no cheap advance fares available atm. We have a HUGE list of things we want to do!

OP posts:
Miaou · 15/01/2006 15:33

I can recommend you a b&b in Fort William if you want, Roisin?

tamum · 15/01/2006 15:46

You should come Miaou, and I can show you our local knitting shop

Miaou · 15/01/2006 15:56

sold

roisin · 15/01/2006 17:43

Yes Miaou, please do recommend B&B in FW.
Btw is it OK for me to CAT you?

OP posts:
Miaou · 15/01/2006 18:17

Of course it is, no probs.

I have forgotten the name of the b&b I was going to recommend! I shall put my thinking head back on and let you know when I receive your CAT!

Actually, can you email me at nick (at) ardgourangling (dot) co (dot) uk - my email isn't working but dh's is.

Miaou · 15/01/2006 18:23

OOOh, scrub that, email is fixed apparently! CAT me as usual and I should pick it up and reply ok!

roisin · 15/01/2006 19:42

I've sent CAT
