AA website says traffic pretty heavy and slow moving - their route finder reckons it will take me 2 hours from Colchester to Heathrow - should i allow longer - its 100 miles.

i risked a journey on the M25 down to J18, but things were still pretty heavey.

that lorry explosion was massive, i am surprised no more people were hurt, the tarmac caught alight!!

I was amazed - and very relieved - too misdee. I guess there was enough warning to clear the road around it - even the lorry driver was only slightly injured, I think it said (he was incredibly lucky!)

No, just a lorry carrying hydrogen peroxide, which exploded - there is a picture here and a video link.

Traffic backed up to the M40 when this was last updated

i was totally amazed. and on the way down, a car had a tyre blow out in the fast line, skidded across to the hard shoulder, in front of 2 lorries! no-one was hurt, MIL was 2 cars ahead, we were about 10 cars behind.

im home and im fine!

Got back about 7.15pm just not had chance to get on here!

Traffic was fine going - i got off at jctn 15 as i wasnted terminal 1 rather than 4.

Spent 2 hours in heathrow waiting for dad but glad i left early now!

TRaffic home wasnt too bad - a bit heavy but normal rush hour stuff!

One more junction and i would have been stuffed!

thank god for that JM was really worried about u and jess.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 31/08/2005 07:23

Jess went down at 9.30pm in the end, and me and DH crashed at about 11 after having showers.

Feel nice and rested, but will probably be screaming later as its my first day with Jess on my own again!!
