AA website says traffic pretty heavy and slow moving - their route finder reckons it will take me 2 hours from Colchester to Heathrow - should i allow longer - its 100 miles.

OP posts:

she'll get thier early and the flight will probably be late any way!

LIZS · 30/08/2005 13:26

ooh we were due to head to Legoland today but got held up so postponed - perhaps it is just as well. May be it will clear as she gets there.

GeorgieVickyLou · 30/08/2005 13:26

NO - she'll get there late and the flight will be early

SherlockLGJ · 30/08/2005 13:28

Has anybody got her mobile number? If so ring her and tell her to park and get the tube - look here

munz · 30/08/2005 13:34

bloody hell, I hope to god she wasn't too close to it when it all happened, damn. not got her number, only addy which isn't much good. fingers crossed she'll get thru and back safely.

Janh · 30/08/2005 13:36

It happened before she set off, munz, but the the traffic will be impossible. I just hope if she has traffic alerts on the radio she'll try to park up and find an alternative way in before she gets stuck completely (she could be in a jam for hours if she goes too far).

SherlockLGJ · 30/08/2005 13:41

Mars and Lockets chat to her on MSN, keep an eye out for them, they may have her mobile.

I am in work, so only checking in sporadically, honest.

MarsLady · 30/08/2005 14:01

sorry only have her MSN. Will see if Lockets is logged on.

Poor babe!

LIZS · 30/08/2005 14:03

lol LGJ - have a had a month of apathy sinc e moving so time to squeeze a bit of fun in before the end of the holidays. btw to drive to Legoland is a real event, I don't really do driving !

MarsLady · 30/08/2005 14:08

Lockets away from her computer. Have shouted all over the screen so we should hear from her soon I hope!

Fingers crossed that she has her number!

SherlockLGJ · 30/08/2005 14:13

Thank you

LIZS · 30/08/2005 14:15

JBM should be safe as she was only leaving at 12.30ish but think it will be pretty chaotic well into rush hour. Really not much fun in the heat either.

Janh · 30/08/2005 14:53

Liz, according to the BBC piece the M25 is completely blocked clockwise back to the M3 (J10) and anticlockwise back to the M4 (J15) and she has to pass one of those whether she goes clockwise or anti - Heathrow is at J14 I think? It will be closed between 12 and 13 until at least 3pm. They will be trying to get traffic off at Js 10-12 and 13-15 but the roads around the M25 are usually pretty heavy too even when it's open...nightmare.

Can we all send thoughtwaves to her - GET THE TRAIN!!!!

No response from Lockets!

LIZS · 30/08/2005 16:14

Perhaps she's gone anticlockwise and managed to get off at A40/M40 ? If she heard the report on the way down from Colchester she may have been able to take some evasive action. Hopefully she'll have had her reunion with Jess by now -

MarsLady · 30/08/2005 16:17

here's hoping!

stitch · 30/08/2005 16:31

i hope jessica has a mobile phone on her....
ive got friends currently sitting on the m25. they were supposed to be here for lunch, but instead are enjoying the fume filled pleasures of junction 13 of the m25. apparently most people are just standing around outside their cars, coz its just too hot.
b%$*&^%y country, one lorry accident, and everything is brought to a standstill. what if you were trying to catch a flight, instead of picking someone up?

RachD · 30/08/2005 17:46

I am just hoping that jessicaandbumpsmummy is o.k.
And I don't even know her ! - but I have seen her on threads.

I have been thinking about her all day and just hoping she is allright.
I live in Chertsey - J11 of M25.

I read this post first thing this morning and my heart went out to here.

My dh and ds left this morning to go to near Colchester on the A12 to see 'nanny seaside' for 3 days - so I knew about the A12 accident aswell.

I have just got home. Took me nearly 2 hours, for a trip that normally takes 10 minutes.

The whole of Chertsey, Staines etc is still gridlocked.

I'm sure you all join me in wishing her the best best.

Ameriscot2005 · 30/08/2005 18:00

Oh, they should have come to me - J13 is my exit!
