Does anyone here work for Bristol uni who can help please

We are having a terrible time with her acxmd she put Bristol first and we are facing a wall of issues .

That would be hard to accept as a first choice bristol student offered bad acxmd in the first place that she now cannot get because of their error. They refused to help with better accmd and now she can't get that because of their links

So your DD rejected their initial accommodation offer & is now hoping that the original place will be reinstated?

Most first year accommodation doesn't work like that. As soon as a room is turned down, it will be reallocated to someone else.

I agree with others that you should start looking at private halls rather than waiting. The longer you wait, the less chance there is of getting something within budget. Your DD might have expressed a preference for (say) a self catered ensuite room in shiny new halls, but that doesn't mean that that is what she will be offered.

Very good advice from @HewasH2O Rejecting an accommodation offer is going to put her down the priority list.

IME, students set their hearts on a particular halls, but actually they find they can have a good time wherever they end up. It’s partly what they make of it.

If this is the one who was offered a place in a mixed hall with PGs, it was a foolish move to turn the place down. It's not like school with the year 7s being put in with the bigger boys. Very few halls would be exclusively for freshers.

I dont think she has turned it down. Her daughter is trying to accept it but the link on the system isn't working.

If she’s turned down what was originally offered there may be nothing else left. Not sure what people on here can do. She will have to keep trying contacting people at the university.

OP is on 3 threads about Bristol accommodation. You're right, her DD is still trying to accept it, but OP is very disappointed with the Unite halls she's been offered.

To be fair to the OP, most freshers are put in halls that are majority freshers. That's not an unreasonable expectation.

I've been so incredibly stressed at the moment it's beyond belief and have a personal massive health scare going on . So this unexpected stress has been terrible.

Re my typo when other people do an obvious typo but I understand why they mean I just ignore it. I can't see an issue at all.

The phone does it when I type it.

My daughter never ever rejected the acxmd at all ?

We queried it as first choice first place as to the quality and sense of it. However she was told to accept it and possibly change in Oct even though I know many people were not happy

The FB group I'm on has also shown terrible choices for many students with needs that have not been met and awful stress for students and parents.

As a first choice I would not expect this
Insurance offers have been given choices !? And proper halls with feshers!

Anyway it took over a week endless links and going around in circles and she has it now. Whatever that is ! That's the next step.

My experience of Bristol so far and with the FB group has been beyond terrible.

I went there in the 1990s and the accommodation lottery was bad even then. I ended up in Northwell House (university-owned student flats)on the Gloucester Rd and it really marred my first year. All my friends were in halls on the Downs or Clifton. The flat was basic but fine but it was basically like being in Siberia. 25 mins walk to my department and the same to the student union. Am sure it’s all very different now but the geography won’t have changed.

Op I get it. I truly get it. This two or three weeks of madness post results, for them to sort out the next few years of their life, accommodation, everything - it is incredibly stressful when IT issues arise on top of it. Wishing you all strength for a full recovery and that in the end whatever happens with your DD's accommodation turns out to be a win for them.

I keep telling myself that blips happen for a reason ... doesn't make the blips any less stressful at the time though, but they do have an uncanny knack of opening another door somewhere along the way.

All best & glad to hear that she at least has a place now. I really hope that the negative reviews turn out to be overblown (I'm guessing properties which haven't been refreshed in a while may have had a refresh over the summer) and it all works out in the end.

The halls you named elsewhere seem to give a mixed message on their website. Scrolling down the screen clearly stated that they were for undergrads, but towards the top it said post grads. Hopefully there will be more freshers than expected.
