Westwood Cotswold for my DD. Nice to be able to organise the last few bits and bobs now.

Anyone else heading for Osborne House (quiet accommodation)?

Onthesofawithmydog · 26/08/2026 17:56

Off to ikea tomorrow now that we have an idea of where she will be. Want to avoid the student rush where they run out of bedding and pans before freshers week 😆😬

So does my DC, and also doing Maths!

He’s on level 2. We bought some bedding today and I think I’ll do Amazon/Argos/Dunelm for the rest. Will get minimum for kitchen until he’s in to see if anyone wants to share stuff - there’ll be a lot of frying pans otherwise!

My daughter is in The Quads which is what she wanted. She has known for weeks though as she had a gap year and deferred her place so I think she was one of the first allocated. The list of things to buy is feeling slightly overwhelming at the moment!

Green Park townhouse standard room allocated here. Can it really be 22 students sharing one kitchen and any idea how many per bathroom? Very vague info online.

Might anyone know what the traffic situation is on Bath Uni drop off days? I can vaguely remember a thread where there was discussion of grid lock. Allocated 11-2pm slot on 18th. We are coming from afar so our arrival time may be pushing it to get there in time, so checking incase we have to allow for additional time incase of traffic jams. Never been to Bath before. Thanks!

Where are you coming from, as I can suggest approaches avoiding the centre (which is being dug up and affecting uni bus routes/likely causing traffic chaos until the end of November)

I don’t think you need to arrive exactly in the time frame they say, it’s just that you can’t arrive before as it may not be ready. So don’t worry about that too much. If you join the Bath parents of students Facebook group you can search for posts on there about traffic on moving in day.

My DC has just finished at Bath and spent 2 years in Osborne House. It suited DC really well, as they wanted somewhere super quiet.

Their first year, they made friends with some of the other freshers (who went on to live together in subsequent years).

But it's equally possible to totally keep to yourself and become isolated (DC never saw or even heard the person in the next door room).

Some of the rooms are studios, some rooms I believe share a kitchen. DC's 2nd room was twice the size as their first stay in OH. We saw one fresher's room down the corridor and it was an enormous studio flat!

On moving in day, we drove on to campus, to a well signed car park where you're handed the keys. Then we drove round to park outside Osborne House and move stuff in (on street parking, no residents' permits required yet).

Good luck to everyone's DC, hope they have a good time at Bath.

Thanks - he would rather super quiet than having to deal with noise and pressure to socialise. He's in a shared kitchen/bathroom flat so hopefully he will see some others! But he knows he will need to go and find friends at societies and on his course.

Thank you so much!
I will check out the Group.

Is everyone’s dc on the app to get to know their housemates? My dd is on there with four others from a block of 18, but so many people haven’t joined yet. Wondered if others had got the email link to join it?

Atreyu · 03/09/2026 22:29

My daughter says the same thing. Only one other from her house has joined the chat!
