Joining - DS has applied to Cambridge - just waiting on the TMUA results. We have an offer from another university which helps. What a stressful process.

loopylou459 · 10/11/2025 08:34

Anyone heard about interviews yet? DS hasn't, but guessing it must be soon...

HewasH2O · 10/11/2025 09:25

You typically get around 8 - 10 days notice but it might be less, especially if they are held online. I mentioned that DD heard on 25 Nov for interviews starting in early Dec for PPE. She actually heard on 29 Nov & that was after some others had heard for different colleges

Newlease · 10/11/2025 09:47

looks like many on this chat is applying Oxford. We also heard from two Unis, so take the edge off. Third one is a late confirm one, so no offer yet. Waiting for ESAT results now

I think it’s still too early, check out the interview timetable link others have added to this chat. DC1 had 5 days notice last year so I think got notification about the 7th of Dec. I expect it will be the same for DC2 this year, that’s if they get an interview depending on their MAT score!
Good luck to your DC.

loopylou459 · 10/11/2025 13:39

Thanks. DS has applied to Cambridge but I assume it must be a similar timetable to Oxford. So still a bit of time to go before we know it seems.

Panicmode1 · 10/11/2025 14:38

Just whizzed back through my WhatsApps and DS got his Cambridge interview invitation on 24 Nov....

Good luck to you (and your DCs) - such a hideous process!

deathbyprocrastination · 10/11/2025 15:49

Hello, new to this thread but today was the deadline for written submissions to Oxford. DD got hers in but didn't receive any kind of confirmation email - is anyone else in the same boat and did your DC get confirmation? She's thinking of emailing admissions to follow up and check but maybe it's the norm.

CalmConfident · 10/11/2025 18:13

No Oxford news but DS got an offer from Exeter so that’s cheered him right up - feels like we are out the starting blocks now

Haywire · 10/11/2025 19:20

My daughter has applied to Oxford for Physics, found the PAT pretty gruesome, ran out of time. She has been up and down about her chances of interview. She is reassured to now have Manchester and Bristol offers. She has tried to be pragmatic about possible outcome but she has had to invest such a lot of time and effort in the process so understandably keen to find out either way.

Hello. DD got an autoreply to acknowledge receipt. It came directly from the college so possible that different colleges have different procedures. The email included an email address to use if she has queries. So you could see if there is one for your DD's potential college. Ours was admissions at the college domain.

deathbyprocrastination · 10/11/2025 22:49

Thanks @MonGrainDeSel it does seem to vary from college to college. Anyway, she's just glad to have got it in for now - heck of a lot of work to submit.

MonGrainDeSel · 10/11/2025 23:32

DD just had to submit one essay but the process was kind of tricky with needing to get it signed by a member of staff etc. I had to help her with the cover sheet and getting it onto the rest of the document. Will be glad when this whole thing is over. It's quite stressful!

deathbyprocrastination · 11/11/2025 16:00

DD had to send in 6 different submissions, all with cover sheets signed by different teachers. Plus the info from faculty and college was slightly different so she got really stressed trying to unravel it all. Anyhow, she's had confirmation of receipt now. Phew!

MonGrainDeSel · 11/11/2025 16:54

That sounds quite the task! Well done to her for getting through it all!

Well done to your DD. I know how much work it involves. Good luck to her, 🤞for an interview.

stabledoor · 11/11/2025 23:40

Just joining this thread. My DS heard today that he will have an interview at Cambridge, but hasn't been given a date yet. I'm so thrilled for him, even if he doesn't get beyond this stage - it makes all the extra effort that goes into the application feel worthwhile.

temperedolive · 12/11/2025 00:24

DC was able to get her written submissions in this week as well. It's quite a large sample for her course - four marked essays with teacher feedback from two subjects. Just waiting to hear about interviews now.

She's off to Birmingham this weekend, as her course at Notts is on the suspended list so she's thinking of subbing in either Manchester or Birmingham on UCAS. I do hope she likes it, but she does seem to feel anything will be second best to Oxford. Which worries me a lot, just in terms of managing expectations.

MonGrainDeSel · 12/11/2025 07:50

I realise now that we really got off lightly with one essay to submit! Sympathies to those with multiple pieces of work to get in.

YellowEllie13 · 12/11/2025 09:31

DD heard yesterday she’s got a Cambridge interview. Phew. She’s delighted and I’m so pleased for her 🙂 (for English)

Muchtoomuchtodo · 12/11/2025 11:00

Congratulations to those getting interviews - that’s a massive achievement in itself!

Will they be in person?

We’re trying to sort out an interactive whiteboard and stylus with the correct software and ds’s email connected in case he gets an interview with Oxford. It’s tricky to get it all sorted and him familiar with it while continuing to manage expectations.

The written work submissions sound pretty tough going. Not sure if revising all summer and sitting the MAT was a better option or not!

TMUA result on Friday - hopefully that will be good enough for ds’s lower offer from Warwick to be valid 🤞🏻

Keep the updates coming everyone!

Newlease · 12/11/2025 11:15

Congratulations @YellowEllie13 and @stabledoor for securing the interviews. Are these in person? Each step feels like something to be happy about, but also comes with its own challenges / anxiety
@stabledoorwhich sub is it please?
@deathbyprocrastination, @temperedolive that sounds like a lot of things to submit, Well done kids for getting it over with.
@Muchtoomuchtodosame here, waiting for ESAT results and I can see DD is very stressed, more than the days before actual test.
Good Luck for all kids waiting to hear results this week.

MotherofPearl · 12/11/2025 11:24

Well done to those whose DC have secured interviews!

@temperedoliveI have the same worries about my DD. She has offers from Bristol, York and Glasgow, but seems indifferent to them. Nothing comes close to Oxford for her, but of course we have to be realistic given how competitive it is.

We're in essentially the same situation. She has offers already from Exeter, Bristol and Leeds, and although she's happy to have them I can tell that Oxford is what her heart wants. But she's done everything that she can do; she's worked so hard and submitted everything and now we just have to wait.
