Is there a thread for this year’s applicants - I can’t seem to find with a search. Thanks for signposting 🙏

Good luck for tomorrow for all your DC!

Haywire · 12/01/2026 18:51

So glad for all the young people that will know which way the wind blows tomorrow and (sorry nearly there for the Cambridge peeps). Daughter been very stoical and has other great options in hand but feeling nervous that she is finally hours away from finding out.

can I join in? My kids are too small for all this BUT I am a secondary teacher and we have some rare skin in the game this year (2 Oxford applicants out of a cohort of 180). One of the applicants has been in my class for the past 2 years and although she is applying for History rather than my subject (English), I have done 2 practice interviews with her (which were both enjoyable and enlightening for both of us, I think!) so feel somewhat invested 😛
Hoping for her that she gets a good outcome and am sure she will regardless of the university she ends up going to.
I am on tenterhooks nonetheless!

Good luck to all those nervous parents. I will be going though this next year I think with DD.

A word of consolation - DS is now in Y2 at Cambridge and is working very, very hard. Like 8 hours plus a day through holidays. He is also realising that it will be very difficult to get a first, and that he might have had an easier time elsewhere, and with uni-blind applications that is becoming increasingly relevant for his chose career route - barrister. Not knocking Cambridge - he loves it and has had a wealth of opportunity but there is definitely a number of down sides and friends elsewhere equally happy and thriving and less tortured by the "am I good enough/ everyone else is really clever" stuff.

Bigbus · 12/01/2026 22:36

Good luck everyone - I am finding myself more anxious than I thought I would be. DD is away with the school and I can’t have my phone at work so it will be nerve wracking all day!

@Angelil its so lovely to hear that teachers are as invested as the kids! My DD is at state school and similar numbers as you and she’s had amazing support. I know she’ll be brilliant wherever she goes and she has three great offers. We just need to get tomorrow over and move on in whichever direction life takes her.

temperedolive · 13/01/2026 08:13

She went for a run and then left for school without even checking UCAS so I have no idea what's happening. Does anyone know if Oxford decisions are out?

GoodLuckBabe · 13/01/2026 08:33

@temperedolive my DS hadn’t heard ten mins ago when he left for college.

mathsapp · 13/01/2026 08:34

Previously the news has come out between 9 and 11 am.

I love that this is exciting and nerve-wracking for you too, @Angelil . I'd lay money on your former pupil talking about you in later life as that teacher who made the difference for her. .

BridgeovertheriverTest · 13/01/2026 08:43

@Angelil would you please let us know the outcome?

Oxbridge1 · 13/01/2026 09:03

I haven't heard of anything yet.

CalmConfident · 13/01/2026 09:21

Nothing here yet. Trying to concentrate on work and struggling as keeping ears open to hear DS reaction!

mathsapp · 13/01/2026 09:27

Maths offer for DS! So pleased for him. Not the college he applied for which is a slight disappointment as he had a choral scholarship offer from there so I’m not sure how that works… I think he just sings at a different college.

Good luck to everyone!

Oxbridge1 · 13/01/2026 09:30

Oh wow congrats @mathsapp. Amazing news! Did he interview at that college or is it a completely random allocation?

MonGrainDeSel · 13/01/2026 09:31

DD has a place at the college she wanted! So relieved. Good luck to all still waiting.

Vargas · 13/01/2026 09:33

deathbyprocrastination · 13/01/2026 09:35

DD has an offer! Don’t know which college yet. Am at work getting the news second hand on WhatsApp via DH!

v many congrats to your DC @MonGrainDeSel & @mathsapp

temperedolive · 13/01/2026 09:36

She's got an offer!!!!!!

I'm overwhelmed...

Vargas · 13/01/2026 09:37

Congratulations!
Dd at school - no idea if she even has her phone on …

mathsapp · 13/01/2026 09:40

Loving the happy news coming through! Congratulations to the offspring of @MonGrainDeSel @deathbyprocrastination @temperedolive

@Oxbridge1 it was a random allocation.

Oxbridge1 · 13/01/2026 09:42

Oh wow this is all great news so far! Thanks @mathsapp that's interesting I did wonder if that could happen. I think I'm more nervous and bothered than my teenager! I guess that isn't a good sign....

CalmConfident · 13/01/2026 09:47

Are your DC getting news via ucas or email ?

KidsDoBetter · 13/01/2026 09:47

A friends DC heard from St C and it’s a yes. Good luck to all waiting!!
As a parent whose DC was a yes to Oxford last year (having had a no to Cambridge a year before!) I remember the stress!

mathsapp · 13/01/2026 09:52
