It's officially the week Oxford interviews begin! Good luck to all!

I'm not sure about the Cambridge interview schedule, but best wishes to those lovely YP as well.

Bigbus · 08/12/2025 07:12

Good luck all - my DDs interviews are Wednesday and Thursday. Will be very glad when it’s all over!

Ds2's interviews with Trinity are tomorrow. He doesn't seem overly nervous (yet!) XH and I are taking him and will mooch around town while he does his interviews then have dinner and a debrief before heading home, in hopes of avoiding the worst of the traffic!

lanadelgrey · 08/12/2025 08:14

Yes, it’s Cambridge too. 2pm, I think for DS. I am going out during my lunchbreak.
He has a heavy cold and was in bed at 8 last night.
Once this bit is over, we can get on with Christmas and forget about it all til mid Jan.

Countrylife2002 · 08/12/2025 09:19

@lanadelgrey same here with the addition of a hacking cough. Have to say these last few days have been the most stressful I’ve experienced for a while. Hopefully once the interviews are done we can resume normality.

Llangewydd57 · 08/12/2025 09:43

Gods luck to all our lovely DC.
DC has maths interviews next week- not sure when yet.
They have a Q&A this afternoon online at 5pm.

Best of luck to all!!! It is such a lot of pressure on them and to have got to this stage is a huge achievement. Hopefully it’s a positive experience and everyone can switch off a bit until the new year x

one interview done - I'm beyond relieved that the tech held out for her and there were no disasters. It actually sounds like DD enjoyed it so hopefully that's a good sign but the main thing is, for that interview at least, she was able to be herself so either they'll feel she's a good fit or not. What I most want for all these fab young people is that they can give true representations of themselves and not be scuppered by nerves/technology etc. Best of luck to everyone else

MonGrainDeSel · 08/12/2025 13:31

One down here too, and similarly DD enjoyed it. I think she feels a lot better about Wednesday now!

Vargas · 08/12/2025 13:33

Completely agree @deathbyprocrastination . If dd does her best and if they don't offer her a place then we will know it wasn't meant to be. I wasn't really that interested in Oxford for her, but now she's jumped through all these hoops I feel so much more invested - trying to hide that from her of course! Her first interview is in a few hours, she'll be on her way back from school soon and hopefully not TOO nervous....

temperedolive · 08/12/2025 13:47

One down here as well, and one to go tomorrow. I think she had a good time as well. She said some of it was reasonably similar to tasks from her mock interviews, which put her at ease. They had definitely read her submission of written work as well and some of the time was dedicated to discussing the thesis of one of her essays and she really enjoyed the chance to revisit and expand on her thoughts.

lanadelgrey · 08/12/2025 14:59

Done and dusted x2. Cats stayed away and he found questions hard but enjoyed tackling them

deathbyprocrastination · 08/12/2025 16:04

Two down here as well. DD really enjoyed the second one too. She's a bit worried that might be because they were going easy on her and weren't pressing her because they'd decided not to offer her a place. But no point worrying about that now and overall it sounded as if she was enthusiastic and gave thoughtful responses to everything that was put in front of her so can't hope for much more than that. Phew, just one left (unless there end up being more I guess!)

Panicmode1 · 08/12/2025 16:24

Well done to those that have done theirs so far and good luck to those with theirs to come

I know it's hard but I wouldn't try to second guess them. DS didn't think either of his had gone particularly well but he was wrong...!

Vargas · 08/12/2025 17:34

One down one to go. DD said it was 'ok', she didn't really feel she got a chance to shine and the discussion was rather narrow. Plus the interviewers were rather stern and serious, I think she'd been hoping for a bit of a laugh at some point! Onward to the next one.

Best of luck to all those yet to complete their interviews.

GoodLuckBabe · 08/12/2025 18:17

We’re still waiting for dates and times for maths - DS was notified he has interviews last Monday but nothing since. He is tying himself up in knots about whether he completed the acceptance form correctly! Are others still waiting for interview details for Maths at Oxford? 😬

Nuffalready · 08/12/2025 18:38

@GoodLuckBabeWe’re still waiting for Compsci interview final details, which is essentially a maths based tutorial I believe, so probably in same situation. We know interviews next week but that’s all, hopefully will hear tomorrow, or maybe the next day…

lanadelgrey · 08/12/2025 19:18

All I can say is that exhaustion has hit. Think DS needs a day or two to refocus on A level syllabuses and normal run of essays but at least no exams til late Jan tho he does have to submit final ucas choices. He can’t find a good insurance choice tho I guess AAB is considered low?

Greenleave · 08/12/2025 21:06

Yeah, we are, maths and Phil @GoodLuckBabe

GoodLuckBabe · 08/12/2025 22:30

Thanks @Nuffalready and @Greenleave that’s reassuring that it’s not just us. Hopefully we will all hear soon!

mathsapp · 08/12/2025 23:19

DS got interview times for Maths today. Two different days next week. He hasn’t heard from the second college yet.

Haywire · 09/12/2025 07:40

Hope all those waiting for dates/times get them through today. My daughters came yesterday and she has two interviews Thursday afternoon and second college on Monday.

At least it will all be done and dusted soon. What a palaver though.

DC still waiting too. All they know is that they’ll be next week.

GoodLuckBabe · 09/12/2025 08:32

@Llangewydd57 thank you. Again, reassuring. DS’s email said most would be next week but some could be 8-10 Dec - so he felt he should know by now! Patience is not his biggest strength…
