Is there a thread for this year’s applicants - I can’t seem to find with a search. Thanks for signposting 🙏

English test done today (for Cambridge). DD didn’t finish but felt it was ok.

Llangewydd57 · 18/11/2025 17:23

Not an Oxbridge question, but has anyone got an offer from UCL yet?

Greenleave · 18/11/2025 18:23

Not yet from us applying for Maths

Same here. DS will have his interview at Manchester next week. I don't see any interview required for other subjects, so wonder why just Physics?

He felt not too bad after sitting PAT, but still not sure if it's good enough for interview at O. However he is happy with Manchester, his 2nd favourite too.

Another here, my DS2 has Manchester interview in December, applied to Oxford, Birmingham, Durham and York for physics.

Same here, Maths 🙂

DS2 has got an interview at Cambridge!! He texted me at 8.35 this morning from school.

And as coincidence would have it, he has a practice interview at a local school this evening.

Also maths, also not heard yet!

Still waiting to hear from Oxford here. Dd had a portfolio submission too, so perhaps that adds a little time? The waiting has not been helped by the fact she discovered yesterday she'd submitted the incorrect date of birth on her UCAS form. Kids!

HewasH2O · 19/11/2025 10:34

Honestly, this really is a no news is good news scenario for all of those waiting. It's VERY early days. DD heard on 29 Nov for interviews which started on 8 Dec. They only need to give 8 - 10 days notice.

Llangewydd57 · 19/11/2025 11:02

Yes, I agree. DC1 heard on Dec 5th or 6th for interviews the following week. Keeping 🤞 for DC2.

Was it straight forward to change or did you have to phone UCAS up?

temperedolive · 19/11/2025 12:11

I haven't heard of anyone getting invited from Ozford yet. It seems some Cambridge colleges are quicker to get the invitations out.

Would we have heard anything if they had already decided not to interview our yp? In fact do they communicate that at all or is it just a case of keeping on waiting and assume they’ve been unsuccessful if they don’t get contacted for an interview?

shelfred · 19/11/2025 12:55

Congrats to those who have interviews. My DS was in this position last year and now happily in his first term at Cambridge. Try not to worry too much about interviews - they are meant to be challenging but the interviewers are more than aware the kids will be nervous. They are also designed to see how the students think and approach problems - it's often not a case of the right or wrong answers so the best advice I can offer is for your DC to try to relax and be themselves!

@ArchitectureMum - sorry that your dd had bad news. Two things - my son's friends who didn't get interviewed moved on from the disappointment far more quickly than those who were rejected post-interview. It was particularly brutal for those who also had to do exams as part of the application, as they'd put themselves through so much stress by that point.

Secondly, if your dd was applying for architecture at Cambs, it is one of THE most competitive courses. I heard a shocking story about a candidate who had brilliant predictions and won young architect competitions etc - she didn't get an offer and all her teachers were flummoxed.

Im not sure. She’s sorted it with a teacher at school and it required a copy of her passport.

They tell everyone at the same time either yes or no. Each subject will be sent out by the colleges, so (say) maths at LMH will be sent at a different time to maths at New.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/11/2025 16:20

@HewasH2O thanks, that’s good to know.

HewasH2O · 19/11/2025 17:32

& nobody is ever left in the lurch. The DC hear from their college regardless & UCAS is updated a little later. Excellent manners!

LadyCrumb · 19/11/2025 19:41

DD did her admissions test for MML at Cambridge this morning- thought it went well but who knows. Seems the interview is coming but not sure when. Happily she has had an offer for Edinburgh which she’s v happy about so the (self imposed) pressure is off a bit.

My daughter had also applied for Physics at Oxford and had her Manchester interview 2 weeks ago. She got her offer through from them a few days after. She loved the city when we visited in the summer and the interview day was good. she said it all seemed more about selling why you should choose Manchester!

She was not happy how the PAT went so not that hopeful of getting an Interview for Oxford but lives in hope.

MumOfLL · 19/11/2025 23:01

That's what I heard. The interview day is more like offer holders day last for 4 hours. Apparently, he just received an offer from Bath this evening. A bit of smile while waiting for Oxford news.

Well done to your DC for the Bath offer! Mine also got a Bath offer yesterday evening, which is great as she really likes it, so now has a place she will be happy with regardless.

Cratos · 20/11/2025 12:14

My DS has got heard from Bath yet. He applied for Maths.

MumOfLL · 20/11/2025 14:45

@Raindropsandposies Congratulations to your DC too! A lot of people said Bath was a lovely place. DS now wants to properly visit Bath Uni as we didn't have time to go on open day.
