Confirmation came a couple of days after registration, to my email address (parent email). I'm guessing they will confirm today as the event is on Sunday.

thanks very much @inae - I guess because we booked it a couple of days ago, they might get in touch soon... I'm wondering if they are already 'full'..which would be a pity, but I don't want to spend over £20 on the trains if we aren't confirmed.

MyGreyBiscuit · 06/11/2025 17:42

We got the confirmation!

OneDivineHammer · 06/11/2025 21:19

Just saw your message and checked - we did too! So happy for the kids; I bet they'll get a lot out of it.

MyGreyBiscuit · 06/11/2025 21:37

DS will be going with his friend. Let’s see how it goes! They had their mmi practice in school today. He came home happy. I don’t ask too much!

inae · 07/11/2025 16:13

That's great to hear! Let's hope it's a good session. I think practicing of question answering with others is really important.

HelenofSparta · 10/11/2025 15:34

Wanted to say thanks for the UCL recommendation for yesterday. My daughter said the day was really helpful. It was the first time she had done any practice for the interview so was a bit daunted beforehand. She said that she met lots of other lovely prospective students (including others who had read about the day on here) so thank you!

MyGreyBiscuit · 10/11/2025 17:10

yes thanks @inae for the UCL suggestion. DS came home with so much info. And also commented that there were way more girls than boys in his group!!

inae · 10/11/2025 18:07

I'm glad they found it useful. My DD was very happy with the 1-1 improvement suggestions on her mock performance. She announced she now knows how to organize her prep going forward.

In other news, apparently, Bristol has started sending interview invites to (extremely) high scorers and offered some early December interview dates.

Has anyone heard from Southampton re: their selection day dates? Their website states, "The 2026 selection day dates will be available in October," but DD has not heard back regarding any dates.

Only UCL has sent a list of interview dates (not interview requests), asking applicants to contact the admissions team in advance if they know they will be unavailable for some of the dates. DD has a wex placement and a school trip in December, so we contacted them.

MyGreyBiscuit · 10/11/2025 18:30

Yes @inae I heard that Bristol’s given out to their top 1% scores so I’m thinking people with 2500+? His schoolmate got something like 2440 and hasn’t been invited… and no we’ve not heard from Southampton beyond the acknowledgement - we’ve only had acknowledgements

inae · 10/11/2025 18:43

Yeah, I heard of a crazy score of 2610 being invited.

The wait will be long. 😐

That is an insane score!!

N0Tfunny · 11/11/2025 15:56

Just to let you know that’s the first Edinburgh interview invitations out!

Dates are 27 November - 10 December and there’s several time slots each day.

inae · 11/11/2025 16:22

I also saw invites from UCL and Imperial on Reddit. All are very high scorers, with UCAT scores over 2,500. Patience is a must, going forward.

@N0Tfunny Is that your DC? If so, congrats!

Yes it is, thank you! Hopefully there will be more interviews arriving in the next few days for all our children.

mumsneedwine · 11/11/2025 18:27

Edinburgh nice and early. Well done @N0Tfunny, think you're the first ! Bristol and Imperial dribbling out v slowly. All starting nice and early this year. Keep positive - no news if good news.

I think the Scottish medical schools interview earlier than down south. Glasgow and Edinburgh start interviews in late November, Aberdeen is mid December and Dundee is January.

Plus they all give a heavy weighting to high UCAT scores ( which my DS has ) , so I don’t think you can read anything into it if your child doesn’t hear anything for the next few weeks. As you say @mumsneedwine , all the unis have their own timescales and processes.

Fingers crossed for lots more interviews for our children between now and Christmas 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

MyGreyBiscuit · 11/11/2025 19:09

congratulations @N0Tfunny ! are they MMI in Edinburgh?

I wonder whether the reality is that they'll go from highest UCAT scores down - and if so, then why do they try and come up with the complicated algorithms (double scoring english and awarding 40% of total score to GCSEs etcetc). Or maybe that's an attempt to square a round hole (or the other way around)... ?

St George's will be online this year and they've given 2 dates - 3rd and 9th Dec if I'm not wrong.

bluefineliner · 12/11/2025 07:00

Hi, just checking in congrats @N0Tfunny to your DS, how lovely to get an interview!

We are obvs just waiting here, trying not to focus too much on it whilst keeping focus on A levels. It is hard when their friends are getting offers quickly, even when you know it is going to happen.

DD seems ok, having quite a few tests atm mocks are early Jan so will be ramping up revision over the coming weeks. One of her MMI prep days at a local hospital was cancelled due to Drs strikes so we are only down to one day with school next week. I keep telling her she still has loads of time but it would be nice to have an actual interview date to work towards.

How is everyone else doing?

MyGreyBiscuit · 12/11/2025 08:15

Doing ok @bluefineliner good to hear from you. Trying to psyche myself up to get into London for a full and long day at work (finishing at 9?)… DS has decided that it might be a good idea to start revising at the local uni library - in case that’s an option for any of you… they’ve got great facilities.

France8857 · 12/11/2025 11:51

update from us, daughter has just had an interview email from bristol. 3 dates offered - 1st, 4th and 9th of december. unsure which to go for. any advantages of not going for the 9th?

mumsneedwine · 12/11/2025 12:38

Fab news. Makes no difference what date you choose.

It can be helpful for others if you post UCAT score when get interviews (helps others gain an idea if they are close or not).

Good luck !

Congrats for the early interview invites!

DD just received an email from UCL with the subject line "You're Invited..." but it turned out to be an invitation to an online public lecture on diabetes. Such clickbait! 😧

MyGreyBiscuit · 12/11/2025 14:09

Congrats on such a great score and being invited!! And what clickbait @inae !!

question for @mumsneedwine (and others who have been through this, or know stuff!).. if they are inviting from the top downwards…(as it appears to be), then what happens to those who are on the lower end and get invited in February…? Do these who interview in December get offers as and when or do they all get put into a spreadsheet and when interviews are over in March, then get their offers?

I’ve heard from friends (with kids a year in med school) that when their child got offered, it was literally the next day post interview. Exeter. And apparently with the offer of ‘if you firm us, we’d drop it to AAB’ or something… obviously they took it.
