Thought I'd start another one.

Apparently St Andrews have started to send interviews out. Son hasn’t heard anything as yet, fingers crossed he hears tomorrow. Not sure I can stand the wait!

DD has a friend with 3 interviews including Leeds, she's got exceptional GCSEs and UCAT. Another friend has a Manchester interview (she's probably contextual, very good UCAT and GCSEs.).

Daughter’s second interview offer today from Leeds. Not sure when Sheffield and Birmingham will make their decisions.

well done to all who've received interview offers for Leeds (did think of you @bluefineliner with the L schools! :)).

We are prepping hard for St George's on Wednesday... hoping that Sheffield will get in touch soon. Southampton sent an update only to say don't panic, we'll send out in Jan! And QM/Barts I think is Jan too.

DS has a friend who had a computer glitch when he did his UCAT and didn't do too well...and hasn't received any invites yet. I know it's still early days but it's not his fault!! Not sure what they can do in this sort of situation. I imagine his parents have done all they can...but it's so awful.

Congrats to all those who got Leeds! Apparently this year Leeds is much tougher than last year, but @mumsneedwine can probably confirm if true.

We're still at 1/4, but no news is good news, right? 😉

We won't know where cut offs are until a while yet. Not sure if Leeds have given all interviews out or just a few today. So hard to say just yet. UCAT was higher this year overall so has changed things a bit for every Uni.

@MyGreyBiscuit the Southampton invite was truly clickbait with that subject line: "An update on your application to study Medicine" (?), only to say invites are being sent early January. I guess they sent it to prevent people from emailing to ask for updates, but could've used a different subject line. 😉

UCL did that too, we got two emails since October: "You're in!" and "You're invited", only it was information about talks or events.

YES!! DS was not impressed when he came home after his driving lesson!!! when's the interview? and who is it with??

@MyGreyBiscuit Exeter is 3rd week in Jan for DD (online). As you know, Sheffield and Southampton interview dates are from 19/20 of Jan onwards. We have high hopes for those two. I hope Sheffield will not let us hanging too much 😉

UCL is the one with the biggest question mark. Even if DD gets that invite, it will likely be late Jan or even March (they have 2 days in March for borderline applicants). We'll be hanging for a while on that one 😆

ah yes @inae I did think it was Exeter - but I didn't want to say the wrong school!! Ours is online on Wed. with some asynchronised recording thing. and it was in person last year!! So, the husband is working from home to make sure the flipping wifi works!! I'm leaving for work early so I'll be a wreck till lunch time I think.

@MyGreyBiscuit virtual hugs for you. I do everything I can do avoid thinking about it, but social media gets the better of me. I don't think I spent so much time online since the pandemic 😢

@mumsneedwine here's the profile of someone rejected from both Manchester and Leeds. Manchester is perhaps not that surprising, as last year's cut off was around 2010 and UCAT average score increase by ~50 points, but Leeds does seem surprising. Academics are perfect, OK near perfect... UCAT is 7th decile yet they were rejected pre-interview.

@inae is that from tsr/reddit ? If someone you know then it does seem a relatively high UCAT for straight rejection. V likely UCAT score but I'm afraid I'm a bit of a sceptic about what people post on social media. I get my info from each Uni in May after it's all been sorted.

DD gave it to me, but I don't know where it comes from - I'm guessing one of her two WhatsApp groups. One is small, only 2 more people from her school, the other one is larger (15+); they all atttended a wex residential last summer and stayed in touch. They are sharing their invites and stats. DD is luckily staying off social media and forums (unlike silly/stressed me), but her whatsapp groups are quite helpful as they have started to practice interview Qs together.

One of DD's friends from school also got rejected by Leeds today. They had only 2x9s and rest were mix of 8s and 7s. UCAT was 2010 and pred all A*s.

We also got the Southampton clickbait!

Two interviews lined up this month, one day apart - Cardiff & UAE. A bit intense!

My daughter’s classmate got a Manchester rejection with 2100 b2, predicted 3a* - very tough.

@MyGreyBiscuit oh tomorrow is really soon for an interview! I am sure your DS will be great though, the very best of luck to him (and you!).

@inae no news is definitely good news, our mantra for these past weeks. DD has Newcastle next week, Leeds early Jan and the other two Liverpool and Lancaster interview late Jan/Feb as far as we can work out so we can put them to one side for now.

From what I have read Leeds was very heavy on GCSEs but tbh we worked that one out before applying so I don't think they have changed anything. I think as @mumsneedwine says, because the UCAT scores were higher this year it will affect the cut offs slightly. I am just relieved DD has managed to get interviews at the two that may have been debatable. I too am trying not to think too much about interviews as it is down to DD on the day no matter how much prep she does 😬.

We're still waiting to hear anything at all (Sheffield, Southampton, Birmingham and HYMS) so v tense (well I am - DD is maintaining mature calm...). She's not got any contextuals and UCAT was 2110 so, looking at the scores on here, I fear she may not make the cut for the above unis this year.

That's a fab UCAT! Surely it's a case of just not having heard yet rather than UCAT being too low? I assume GCSEs were good? For HYMS and Birmingham. I have everything crossed for you.
