Anyone else's DC taking the TMUA test this week? DD is busy doing a bit of practice now. She'll need a fairly decent score. I wish she'd gone for the Jan sitting now!

@buckleten I think if my DD does get an offer from both it will be a very difficult decision. I'm quite glad we probably have some weeks/months till we know. She can put TMUA behind her and focus a bit on A-levels and the next round of mocks. Year 13 is so full on.

@Frowningprovidence everything crossed for your DS

Further news: I realised today that if DS1 was going to take TMUA he needed to register soon - online registration has closed but can phone Pearson centres for a bit. So I asked him if he still wants to pursue his Warwick application.

Warwick has already made him a contextual offer - I'm not sure whether this is for reduced grades or not but it means that he doesn't need to sit the TMUA exam. I looked at the Warwick Maths page and found confirmation of this, and of eligibility criteria. I don't think he had to apply - they look at postcode and schools results and free school meals levels at both KS4 (GCSE years - so 10/11) and KS5 (A level - 12/13). The school where he took GCSEs meets both criteria for a contextual offer.

Good luck to all awaiting offers post TMUA and all who still have to take it.

@elkiedee that's good news! A contextual offer does mean that TMUA is not necessary : )

Hello all, another one who is glad I found this thread.
DS wants to apply to Imperial for Engineering and sat his ESAT Maths & Physics today. He expected it to be hard but it was really hard. He had been doing past papers since Christmas. Some of his friends who were doing Oxbridge applications sat it in October and told him how hard it would be - none of them got the marks or offers they wanted, and are now looking at their next tier choices, and I think it’s made his group wary/ fed up.
He came away a bit annoyed but then settled to philosophical… 6 week wait for results now.
He hasn’t put his UCAS form in yet, he’ll squeeze it in before the deadline.

@MotherOfCatBoy welcome! And fingers crossed for your DS and his ESAT result.
It's the TMUA again today and tomorrow. I think my DD is mightily relieved she took it in October and didn't have to spend Christmas holidays preparing.

Good luck to all doing it!
DS’ logic was that he had mocks anyway and most of the revision work would overlap, which makes sense, though I partly wish it was over with already!

Good luck to all doing the TMUA this week.
