St Andrews. Any RUK had any offers recently?

As the title says. Just seeing if anyone from RUK has heard lately. I know they offer late normally, but is there any movement at all? Particularly for STEM?
Will it really be April time?

My DS was also told offer holders’ days at Edinburgh are on the 12th and 26th

stressedlinguistmum · 08/02/2024 06:55

Anyone aware of the offer holder dates for St A's. Dd's 1st choice but we're still waiting (MFL). I think it might be a good idea to prebook hotels for the offer day as it may be very soon after she gets her offer (hopefully🤞🏻) at this point.

legobrickseverywhere · 08/02/2024 09:30

DS had another scholarship email from them the other day. He had a different one a month or so ago. But still no offer or rejection. No other communication apart from those so far.
Would make things so much easier if we knew. To either make a decision or out it to bed. Last year, offers seem to come out from end of Feb to March. With some trickling into April.
Re the offer open day. It’s such a long way to go for us and would need a little planning. But seems pointless to think about before any offer.

My DS got another scholarship email from St As too on Monday. Sadly I don’t think we can read anything into it.

legobrickseverywhere · 08/02/2024 11:15

Yes I agree. A bit like the ‘Merry Christmas’ emails that came in from some unis.
St Andrews feels like a wide shot, but would be good to hear either way, so DS can finalise his choice.

Dd has also had 2 scholarship emails and that's it. Possibly hoping that's a good sign although I doubt it- probably just automatic Blush

I feel the same

I suspect it is automated and all were sent out at the same time earlier this week. But saying that DS got a similar scholarship email from Durham not too long ago, followed by an offer a week or so later. So who knows! We can but hope!

It was April when my son got his offer. Last one, it was his 1st choice originally but he ended up going to the Uni that offered within 1wk of submitting the form in October!

legobrickseverywhere · 06/02/2024 21:36

Does Edinburgh or St Andrews normally reply first? Waiting on them too!
When are dates for offer holder days released?

Edinburgh a good while before St A

legobrickseverywhere · 11/02/2024 18:20

Anyone had any responses lately?
I think the offer holder day is early April for all depts.

My DD found tsr useful for StA. When she applied offers (and rejections) came out in weekly batches according to fee status/context. She could tell when they started offering in her category so knew she wasn't a first (or 2nd or 3rd pick).

SparklyOne71 · 14/02/2024 19:55

My DS received an Unconditional for Physics as St. Andrews in December but we are based in Scotland not RUK, so his actual Higher results have helped. There is an in-person Offer Holder day for Physics this weekend at St. Andrews that was emailed out to him just this afternoon (Wednesday 14th Feb). There is a general offer holder day on 6th April. I know of at least one other student (arguably a stronger candidate than my DS) still waiting to hear about Physics/Maths so there is still hope, I think.

Cx5 · 14/02/2024 20:26

@SparklyOne71thank for the offer holders date, I was hoping it would be the same weekend as Edinburgh as we could do with visiting both and I don't fancy making 2 separate trips. Just need to know the St Andrews outcome so we can start planning.

SparklyOne71 · 14/02/2024 23:21

Feel your pain - we are around 3 -3 1.2 hours North of St Andrews so he wants to visit St Andrews, Herriot Watt (Edinburgh) and Strathclyde (Glasgow) around 4 hours drive away from us and not possible to do in one day, or even a weekend. All lovely places to visit though. So we'll probably end up with at least 3 different trips, it's an opportunity for some quality time before they head off. I'm not thinking about that next bit yet!

My RUK non-contextual DD had a STEM offer last week.

Congratulations to your DD! Is it her first choice?
We’re waiting on Computer Science. If DS gets an offer from there then it will be between St Andrews and Durham for his first choice.

SeaofTranquility · 16/02/2024 14:18

@legobrickseverywhere It won't be her first choice, but might be her second. Did you go to the Durham offer holders' day? We loved it there too.

That’s good to hear. We’re going next month. Any recommendations?
We did the open day and DS loved it and in his head I think that’s where he thinks he’s going. But would just be nice to hear from the others and finalise things before exam season properly kicks in.

Has anyone heard anything from St Andrews? Even if just ‘Happy Christmas’, ‘what it’s like to study’ there etc emails?

Just the scholarship emails, I think DS has had two or three of those.

Same here. And then nothing. The wait goes on!

Try and visit as many colleges as possible, they are all so different! Hope you hear from St A very soon.

St Andrews offer just came in for DS this afternoon.

Delphigirl · 19/02/2024 21:15

Oh well done @Cx5 ! What subject? Silence still for dd
