My DS has applied to a C college conducting in-person interviews but have categorically stated that invites for interviews will be sent out W/C 20th Nov. Looks like all colleges have their own process and agenda.

@Redhotchillipeppers yes you’re right. DD’s college (shouldn’t really say that!) stated that invites would start being sent out from 2nd week in November and that is exactly when she heard.

@Redhotchillipeppers def college specific it seems; one of DD’s friends got their C interview invite over a week ago - its in person so perhaps they are sending them earlier to enable logistics to be sorted; interview is in Nov

@Headingto18 makes sense if interview is in Nov. College DS has applied to will interview 4th-13th Dec, which gives 2-3 weeks of prep time.

My son has applied to an in person interview college, but still no news about either the interview or the HAA that is due to take place a week Thursday.

He has however has two mock interviews and has another two arranged for next week!

DD has a mock interview at a local independent school. Unbeknown to me she’s picked up an overtime shift at work that finishes 30 mins before her interview. She was adamant last night that it’s doable and she can get to the interview in time. I’ve had to put my foot down and say she’s not doing the overtime shift. It totally negates any benefit of the mock interview if she’s all flustered and rushing from one place to another after being sat on a check-out for 4 hours! 🤦‍♀️

Feels like a lot of Dds friends have also applied to Oxford or Cambridge. As far as I know none of them have heard anything yet….

@Lightsabre thanks for info, I'm interested in the process and think it must be stressful for those doing the admin. At some stage the interviews at C must feel like groundhog Day for admissions.

Looks like Oxford interviews are starting to come out- someone on TSR has invite for Art!

Email came this afternoon to invite DS to interview :) He seems unfazed! I think he needs to tell his college as they were talking about setting up a possible mock interview at a local private school.

Blimey this is nerve wracking. Waiting to hear about PPE at Oxford. DS seems very relaxed bless him.

I think for Oxford where there has been a test involved and potentially the submission of work they are less likely to hear until the end of the month so don't worry that others have already heard. I'm trying to switch off for a bit.

It's a gruelling process though, I'd heard this before but hadn't quite appreciated it until DS is going through it. He seems to be focused on revising for his mocks though which are before Xmas. It will almost be a hiccup if he gets an interview at this point!

What I've found is useful is focusing on the differences in the course offered by Oxford and at one that he's already been offered. In many ways the one he will have as his alternative top choice is better and offers a year abroad which is not in the equation for Oxford and which I think he would love.

Oh and massive congratulations to all of the DC who have heard about interviews this week, amazing! Well done!
