@Fatbottomed it's for more info, not the same. My daughter is not adding anything, even though her course is unique to Cambridge she feels she's said it all in the PS. There is no disadvantage/penalty for leaving it blank.
My daughter's assessment test is not until end of November, but she's been doing timed practice essays. She's also applying for a Turing scheme one month trip abroad with her current course so has now done a CV and is writing yet another PS type (for a totally different subject). Again scant chance of getting selected as so many applicants but she has to give it a go!
Tomorrow she'll submit her SAQ, writing samples, disability form to her college. Then she'll concentrate on practice essays. Still looking for fourth/fifth choice for UCAS. @Rollergirl11 I quite liked the look of Warwick but so far she says no. Edinburgh or Glasgow now resurfacing for umpteenth time. Happy to drive up to Warwick for open day but not go to Edinburgh/Glasgow unless she applies and gets in!
Good luck to those sitting tests this week!

DD is doing the My Cambridge form. She has to list all the topics she is being taught in her a level subjects and give details. Has everyone else done that?

Can I ask about the Cambridge extra information request? My daughter has applied, completed the UCAS application & had a request from Cambridge for further info. It basically requests the same info as the UCAS form. Does she need to repeat the info in the personal statement section? Is it sufficient to cut & paste from UCAS form or leave it blank? There does not appear to be any guidance.

No need to complete the Cambridge form if it going to repeat info that is already in the PS. The last thing the Cambridge Fellow need is to read the same info twice. The form is there really for Cambridge courses that differ to the other 4 applied to. I speak as the mum of a Cambridge Fresher (who went through it last year and did not submit a Cambridge Form). Fellows at multiple colleges said the same thing on the Open Day. Best of luck to all! It is a full on year with all the admission tests, interviews and last but not least the actual A-levels...

hampsteadmum · 15/10/2023 23:41

I should clarify that my above comments relate to the Cambridge Additional Statement, not the Form where they ask to confirm A-levels and personal details. Apologies in advance for any confusion.

mondaytosunday · 16/10/2023 00:00

@Rollergirl11 my daughter just put things like 'Tudors X date to X date' 'Dutch Revolution' and whatever Irish and German thing they covered. Same with her other A levels - just the headlines, so to speak. Finite space so no room for much detail! I assume it's to have things to ask at the interview, though my DD subjects don't relate directly to her degree. Other A levels I imagine are much more relevant to what they will do as a degree.

goodbyestranger · 16/10/2023 09:09

I assume it's to have things to ask at the interview

On the basis of my DCs' History interviews (all Oxford though, not Cambridge), it could equally be so that those areas are avoided at interview.

FancyFanny · 16/10/2023 16:47

DD submitted today for the Ruskin. Nothing like being last minute🙄

stoneysongs · 16/10/2023 17:54

DD's form went in on Friday and she has had an offer today from Liverpool 🥳

Headingto18 · 16/10/2023 18:42

Hi has anyone heard from their O college re submission of the essays etc?

Redhotchillipeppers · 16/10/2023 18:45

Good evening everyone. I was wondering if any has heard from Durham. DS received an email with his user ID a few days ago. The email explains that he would receive a separate email with his PIN number, after which he would be able to access the UG applicant portal. But the email with his PIN has not arrived yet. Anyone else in that situation?

Redhotchillipeppers · 16/10/2023 18:53

I’ve just asked DS again, and it looks like the email arrived this morning. I asked him less than two hours ago and he insisted nothing had arrived. This is why I’m on this thread. He doesn’t check any emails, even when reminded. He didn’t realised he had received his first offer until 4 days later- that’s after I badgered him to check 🙁

Headingto18 · 16/10/2023 18:53

@Redhotchillipeppers DD’s pin arrived today - she got the first email a few days ago; most of her friends have had the same delay between the two emails

Headingto18 · 16/10/2023 18:54

@Redhotchillipeppers 😂

Rollergirl11 · 16/10/2023 18:55

Oh wow congratulations to your DD @singingstones !! Is that the quickest offer yet?

@Redhotchillipeppers DD had a reply from Durham explaining about the application portal and she received the separate email with the PIN at the same time. Have you checked in the Junk folder? DD has had a few response emails that she has seen go in to her inbox and then they have disappeared. When she checked Junk they had gone in there.

Redhotchillipeppers · 16/10/2023 18:56

@Rollergirl11 DS had not had anything go to junk mail. It’s all him I’m afraid.

Headingto18 · 16/10/2023 18:58

@Redhotchillipeppers DD is not much different - i do suggest she checks the portals each day in case anyone wants more info etc but i doubt she does

lifeturnsonadime · 16/10/2023 18:59

Well done @singingstones 's DD, it's great when they start getting offers in!

Redhotchillipeppers · 16/10/2023 19:01

@Headingto18 Thank you. I keep thinking it’s just my DS that needs chasing. I guess they’ve got a lot on - which is why they have us as PAs 😂

Rollergirl11 · 16/10/2023 19:03

@Redhotchillipeppers hah hah, glad it showed up! FWIW DD is exactly the same with her email and I have to remind her to check. She asked me to check her email to the other day to see if she’d received the UCAS confirmation while she was at college. Whilst I was in there I saw an unread email from Lancaster university offering us free accommodation the night before the open day back in September. That would have come in real handy so I was retrospectively annoyed with her! 😂

Redhotchillipeppers · 16/10/2023 19:06

@Rollergirl11 😂 oh dear!

Redhotchillipeppers · 16/10/2023 19:12

@singingstones that was super quick. Congratulations! It’s great to have the first one in.

Rollergirl11 · 16/10/2023 19:28

Do UCAS send an email notification for the offers? I very much doubt DD is checking UCAS but she is checking her email (at my insistence) so I’m assuming she’d be notified if there was an update.

stoneysongs · 16/10/2023 19:32

Yes @Rollergirl11 DD had an email from UCAS saying there was an update to her application.
She has also had emails from Oxford and UCL just explaining the process.

mondaytosunday · 16/10/2023 19:37

Relief @singingstones! One in the bag!
Dd sent hers off Tuesday to C adding Durham and Bath in Wednesday. Cambridge college quick to send back SAQ and notification on when the assessment test would be but no acknowledgement from Durham or Bath. But like others she's not checking as compulsively as I would be! I looked in TSR and seems last year most offers for Bath started being sent out in November.

stoneysongs · 16/10/2023 20:36

Definitely a relief and a boost - she has an entrance test on Wednesday and her past paper scores have been getting worse instead of better, so really nice to have some good news Smile
