Is anyone still waiting for Uni offers, we're still waiting for Durham.

DD heard about her Durham offer two weeks ago (non-contextual) and her friends who didn’t apply to Oxbridge or were contextual heard months ago. No one at her school still waiting on Durham. Those like DD who knew they weren’t taking up Durham (as offer same or higher offer as top choice) rejected asap so it could hopefully help those still waiting. Good luck to those still waiting.

When was the St Andrews Offer Holders Day held?

OP posts:
lovefizzycolabottles · 11/04/2023 07:44

@Weddingmum St A offer day was 1st April.

DD still waiting to hear from UCL economics here…..grrrrrr.

hornetgirl · 11/04/2023 08:35

We are still waiting for Edinburgh biological sciences. So frustrating for my DS.

Super44 · 11/04/2023 08:39

Edinburgh does seem to be the slow one this year. I know lots of people waiting. I’m not sure if they wait to do all the rejections after offers? My DS on verge of withdrawing just so doesn’t have to think about it any more but that seems a shame..

VeronicaTimeTurner · 11/04/2023 11:36

Still waiting for UCL here. Wish they’d just get on with it.

EmmaStone · 11/04/2023 13:44

Waiting on Edinburgh here too. Got Durham the day after the final offer holder's day 🙄

bguthb90 · 11/04/2023 17:12

From the TSR Durham thread, DC who've been contacting the admissions office today, have been told that they'll hear by 18th May now

Seems like the 21st April deadline they sent emails about in mid February is no longer being honoured

CaveyWavey · 11/04/2023 18:03

Waiting for Bristol Mechanical Engineering.

Cantonet · 11/04/2023 18:07

DD has offers from UCL, UAL & Manchester for architecture. She's still waiting on Liverpool & Edinburgh.

WendyWebersdrugget · 11/04/2023 19:16

Also waiting for UCL!

Here is Durham:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VKmLK1U8EKTt10aAEn9l3pXemc1Zu5tmtUdOpkZiydA/edit

i think maybe the accuracy has to be taken with a pinch of salt (although dd put her offer on) and also people are unlikely really to put rejections on.

Mind boggling % private school!

EmmaStone · 12/04/2023 09:45

Oh I wouldn't use the spreadsheet to assess % of private/state - Durham publishes its own statistics on that which are at least accurate! Although I think it does have a high private school proportion, I'm not sure what it has in place to increase accessibility in the same way Oxbridge has?

KittyMcKitty · 12/04/2023 09:52

I put this on another thread but here are Durhams published statistics on school type.

50% for arts and humanities is a massive skew…..

EmmaStone · 12/04/2023 16:29

But included in Arts and Humaities (and causing a big swing) is Classics and Ancient History, MFL and Theology & Religion. My daughter's favourite A Level (and what she is pursuing at Uni) couldn't have been taken at our local state school. It's not private schools' or Durham's fault that these subjects are less likely to be taught at state.

Panicmode1 · 12/04/2023 16:33

Exeter and Bristol for mixed honours courses with a year abroad/in industry.

She's given up on Bristol but is keen for Exeter (as are DH and I as alumni!). She has two other decent offers but I know she's a bit disheartened. DS had all five (including Durham) by this time last year.....

Pourmeanotherwine · 12/04/2023 21:28

Still waiting for Brighton illustration

Weddingmum · 13/04/2023 07:04

Someone has posted on the TSR chat room that they are having a big push at Durham to get offers out over the next few days, fingers crossed we'll hear soon!

OP posts:
KittyMcKitty · 13/04/2023 07:55

🤞🏻you all hear good news very soon!

Inca22 · 18/04/2023 22:17

@toomuchlaundry son heard from Bathtoday - he got in! He was so convinced he hadn't, and he genuinely never thinks highly of himself so regardless of whether he accepts or not I'm super proud! (Sorry have no one else to share this good news with) Grin

toomuchlaundry · 19/04/2023 00:10

@Inca22 so happy for your son and I hope it helps boost his confidence in himself

Weddingmum · 19/04/2023 07:00

@Inca22 So happy for you! You should be very proud, we're still waiting for Durham. Two of her friends had rejections yesterday.

OP posts:
Inca22 · 19/04/2023 07:12

@Weddingmum It's like secondary school all over again. Sending you both all the luck!!

bguthb90 · 19/04/2023 08:04

Very best of luck @Weddingmum - Durham has been fairly brutal in the last few days.

DS and 4 of his friends - different courses and schools - all got rejections for not being competitive enough, although their predicted grades were well above typical offers
