Dual Degrees

Following on from yesterdays huge disappointment about being rejected from Sports Science at Loughborough, he has spent all day searching UCAS for courses still available through extra and has come across one which he is very interested in (in fact it’s the most excited I’ve seen him since the Loughborough open day!). It’s a Dual Sports Science degree with Portsmouth and a University in Perth in Australia, 4 years in total. Year 1/2 here, Year 3 in Australia then 6 months in Australia at the end of Year 4.
Apart from the fact that we have no idea about Portsmouth so would need a trip to see what it’s like…any other downsides? You apparently get 2 actual degrees, a U.K. sports science one then an Australian Equivalent.

No, the other things you mention are in the stats. Fairly obviously.

I'm finding you a wee bit contradictory tizer - you say to find out about other stats such as graduate employment/numbers getting graduate jobs. I point to where to find that and then you say it's not relevant as it's about individuals... might as well go anywhere then?

Oh no. I do agree with you but I do also think greater ambition, drive, luck and personal attributes are in the mix when it comes to getting jobs that pay better. So that can help a student get a great job irrespective of Newcastle or Birmingham. There might just be more of the latter at Brum!

I think it's probably that first graduate job where a degree from a prestigious university can give you a career leg-up. Becomes less relevant thereafter.
