He says

Each year there's several papers around the world and because of that they look at all the scores and how hard it is for each paper and run a statistical test providing a score for critical thinking, problem solving and an overall score.

That score is not necessarily out of anything but the higher the better. It used to be that if you got say 38 in the 2008 papers you wouldn't get a place as the statistical score would have been lower than the ones for more recent years, the scores aren't meant to be comparable scores on different years but to the scores for the different papers round the world,

Gosh that's interesting. Learning curve for me then. Thanks FF.

Ooh! Offer just in for the boy from Manchester (comp sci, 3 A star); really chuffed for him - if he is lucky enough to get an offer from Cambridge, too, it will be a genuinely tough decision! Also... oh my word the pressure is on with grades, isn't it 😢?

Brill well done you two

perseverence · 01/11/2022 11:38

How is everyone else doing with day-before-exam preparations?

Would be glad to hear about it. We are last day in self-isolation - DD doing papers - roof falling on my head here!

OnePlusOneEquals · 01/11/2022 12:53

I’m just glad I’m working tomorrow and won’t have time to sit and worry!

redtulip12 · 01/11/2022 12:53

How is your dd feeling now @perseverence .
My dd did a paper last night but today she is at school, then has a driving lesson and won't be doing anything on it tonight. Role on tomorrow evening!

perseverence · 01/11/2022 14:22

Last minute emotional meltdown Ruislip.
To be expected though after the week we've had.

All on track though.
I'm with you on the 'roll on tomorrow' front Oneplusone

I'm looking forward to her getting on the bus and off we go...

Best of luck to all.

DeadDonkey · 01/11/2022 16:26

DS seems far too chilled for his TSA tomorrow. He got an AAB offer from York yesterday - so his second and third choices have made offers and he’s happy with that.

Good luck to all DCs sitting exams tomorrow.

Firefox1066 · 01/11/2022 16:44

DS very (probably too!) calm about tomorrow but still working hard to go through various bits today and this evening.

Ill be glad when this bit is over, although then we have the angst of waiting to see if our DC are called for Interviews!

Good luck to all sitting tomorrow…. I really hope they give a fantastic account of themselves.

princesdando · 01/11/2022 17:13

All the best to everyone who's DC is sitting TSA or any of the other tests tomorrow. I pray they all do well.

They all need to get a good nights sleep tonight!

@perseverence hope your DD feeling better.

babysteps22 · 01/11/2022 17:14

Weirdly no exam for chemistry.

DS got another offer this week AAB from Newcastle. So we're pleased.

Good luck to all those taking exams!

Trying to focus on work here, but a busy week altogether, I'm not sure how she's going to fit it all in TBH. I don't think she's down the calendar maths (I have!!).

DeliberatelyObtuse · 01/11/2022 19:08

Yes - good luck to everyone doing exams 🍀

DS is doing the MAT tomorrow

He's had 3 offers so far so I think that has taken some of the pressure off but I know he'll be glad when tomorrow is over!

multivac · 01/11/2022 19:28

Good luck to all from here, too x

Well done. We went on one of the Open Days a couple of years ago and the course looked amazing.

OxbridgeHopeful · 01/11/2022 21:49

Adding my best wishes for all the tests on tomorrow.

DS is also sitting MAT but only because Imperial and Warwick use it. He did quite a few past papers over half-term and seemed to be getting strong results. Actually let me mark one of them for him ... If he gets a Cambridge offer it will depend on STEP, so I'm hoping that a strong MAT performance might get him a good insurance offer that doesn't require STEP.

perseverence · 01/11/2022 23:34

Lets hope they are all honest and explain how much they have depended on their mums during covid and currently.

We are their educators if not unacknowledged.

Makes my laugh how these applications are with no mention of us whatsoever as if the tutors at uni/school college did everything.

What a joke, with lockdowns, recruitment shortages and finally teachers' strikes... for goodness sake what a joke!

OnePlusOneEquals · 02/11/2022 06:02

Hope today goes well for all students and parents!

Lostinabba · 02/11/2022 06:33

Good luck to everyone today. We've had a week of it with DH in a bad accident. He's thankfully OK but given us all a fright. DD has coped really well and hopefully the adrenaline will keep her going.

hiltz · 02/11/2022 08:29

Good wishes for everyone today.

Riverpebble · 02/11/2022 08:51

Good luck everybody

Mine has gone off feeling sick and not having had breakfast 🙄🤞

Physing · 02/11/2022 08:53

Best of luck to everybody.

redtulip12 · 02/11/2022 09:48

Good luck to all those sitting exams today.
Anyone know what time the tsa is due to finish this morning?

DD said she will be back by twelve an hours journey so I'm thinking it must finish 11.00 or 11.30

positive vibes
